My name is Rashard Dobbins. I was born in Ypsilanti, MI on April 29th 1989. Primarily my mother raised me until the age of 6, until she met and married my stepfather. A few years later we moved, and my little brother was born. Before I knew it. My dad enlisted in the army. My stepbrother moved in with his biological mother. And my mom, two younger brothers, and I were on the midnight train to Georgia.
In Georgia we would bounce from city to city within Metro and rural Atlanta. Moving religiously, at the end of every summer. But moving around wasn’t too tough though. I learned a lot about different cultures, accepting others, and building relationships. I was able to be myself, and get along with others. Overall it left me a pretty diverse individual.
My step dad and brother moved back with us my sophomore year of High School. Which was a change because for two years the family had lived without them. So of course we quickly out grew our home, and once again moved.
We finally did settle. And when we did I decided to take advantage of my opportunities. Which is how I happened upon Musical Theater. I quickly became passionate about performing; it started a fire within in me.
My musical theatre experience moved me to take action, take classes, and become more serious about my craft. Searching high and low for career opportunities.
Since acting I have a sense of purpose, and peace; believing I discovered what it is I want to do for the rest of my life.
