2006~ I own a Christian talent , management & promotional company here in Northern Illinois with ethics and moral terpitude. We do not promote adult themes, pornaography, nudes or other derogatory work in the industry. Downtyme Management & Promotions is a diverse, multi ethnic company Downtyme Management & Promotions, I created in January 2003. We are recognized by the BBB of Illinois. We are license in the state of Illinois and in the county of Winnebago. I was scouted at the age of 9 while attending The Miss Illinois Beauty Pageant, by John Casablanca Modeling School back in the the early 80's (mom was 2nd & 3rd runner up consecutive years). I have been in the Entertainment industry since 1984. I have been involved in commercials, pilots, fashion shows, print modeling, an extra in movies and in theater. I use to be in a music group while I was in college. I was a professional dancer for two years with the Forest Dance Academy (Loves Park, Illinios) where I took: tap, hip hop, jazz and clogging. I have traveled with a 7 man dance troup and chorus,performed in Chicago, New Orleans (Mardi Gras), NYC New Years Eve (Times Square) for Dance Olympas and Tremain. I have taken instruction from Marcia lane (Pink Cadillac video; Natelie Cole), Barry Lathers ( the Original Dr Pepper dancer in the mid 80's) and from one of the Midwest's Top Choreographer's Ted Jackson who has had dancer with Cher and Janet Jackson. I come from a very progressive family in the Entertainment Industry. My aunt Nita Thompson who is now a gospel contemporary singer (great CD by the way) use to be a back up for Tracy Spencer, Pattie Labelle, Shante Moore and Glen Jones to name a few and her husband is a producer in L.A., who has worked with Michael Jackson's camp (Hi Curtis). I have another Aunt who has sang with Tina Marie back in her hay day (that's my aunt Sharon). My Grandfather Clency Thomas use to play with Nat King cole and B.B. King. I got back into modeling in 2002, my little girl started getting involved with and winning baby pageants all across wisconsin (what parent has not forced there child into pageants and little Jasmine was discovered by ManHattan Model Search by then head Scout Mathew Coulton). Jasmine is the reason I started the business. After getting her involved with modeling and going to a couple seminars where in september of 2002, Jasmine was a promotion model for my mentor Mike Lyons, CEO of the Lyons Group in Manhattan, NY. I built my company outside of Chicago in Rockford and we are the number one agency here that works in the Chicago market. My company started in January 2003 and I have worked with Kat Rapheal (WB Network) who is one of the producers for Elimidate and if you can remember the reality TV music show the WB came up with as there answer to American Idol two years ago???? I have also placed models in major audition such as: DERAILED, STRANGER THAN FICTION ( due to be released in 2006), two small independent films Legite and Lost. My company works in promotional modeling with the International Academy of Design & Technology Schuamburg, Illinois Campus. My little Agency teaches models the industry standards: model ettiquette, voice projection, interview techniques, reading copy, casting calls/go-sees /auditions training and building a confident Modeld. I work with ad agencies, promoters, casting agents, producers, scouts, model agencies, music producers & video and photographer such as Eric Ganison Photography (Dallas). Models need to understand that this industry is a very hard business to make it in and if you are looking to make a lot of maney fast it is not going to happen. Read and understand this less that 10% of models these days are making 5 to 6 figures. So as I tell any talent I dont do lip service and you can get rid of the pipe dream becuase it is done by selection and who you know. We represent models in movies, music, promotions, radio & TV commercials, acting and modeling (not high fashion modeling). As a model You need to be warned and educated on how to find representation and seek the experience agencies with a good service record. You have many types of agencies and management companies in the industry and as an owner of a young agency we give you a personalize relationship. I am the only agent for the company as of now and we are getting to emerge into a bigger company. I dont sign every and any clients. I sign clients that are dedicated, committed, professional, willing to learn, trainable, workable, respectful, ethical, honest, work hard, have good character and are beautiful. I also promote events around the midwest. Our promotions consist of model expos, Fashion Shows, model & talent searches, Teddy Bear Fest 05 (a colaboration with the local Salvation Army) and the Star Power Tour. Downtyme is a full service agency that focuses on children and adults young and old alike. Our Mission statement is: We scout local talent, guide them in the development of their skills and market their abilities. I make mistakes too...
