Casting Directors, Ad Agencies and clients base their decisions to interview you after looking at your photos. That's why your photo shoot is such an important element of your success. Remember that your appointment has been reserved for you and can not be rescheduled unless there is a medical emergency. Please read the following instructions very carefully to ensure that you'll end up with the best photos possible. There are three variables that determine the quality of your photographs.
1. Your ability to pose in front of the camera. It is essential that you have received training in modeling and/or acting prior to doing your photo shoot. If you've convinced your manager to accept you for a photo shoot although you haven't received any training, you should at the very least practice on your own in the following ways. Get a shoot practice daily in front of a mirror. Try different poses wearing the outfits that you plan to wear in your photo shoot. Get a friend to shoot a couple of rolls of film to see how you can improve your poses. If you have a good figure, make sure to include poses in a bathing suit (preferably one piece in a solid colour.), exercise hear, lingerie and/or body conscious wear that will show your figure off. Use props such as ladders, boxes, bikes, pets, cars, furs, tools and anything that will add energy and excitement to your photographs. Develop these test shoots prior to your professional photo shoot to see your strengths, your flows, what to do and what to avoid. If there are any imperfections on your teeth, practice smiling in front of a mirror in a way that looks natural, yet conceals the flaws of your teeth.
2. Make up. Professionally done hair and make up will make an ordinary person look like a glamorous star. Make up artist are always present at every professional photo shoot. Children should never put on excessive make up or overdo their hair because they will stop looking like children and defeat the purpose of the photo shoot. Children should only have make up applications to conceal pimples or temporary blemishes.
3. The photographer. The photographer has to be specialized in the business and to know what the casting directors and/or the ad agencies are looking for in modeling shoots. Using an "experienced" photographer that "has shot some models before" will be a total waste of your money We have seen this happen over and over again. We have accountable photographers because we only hire well known specialists that come in or the whole day and shoot just our talent at reduced rates. If their photography doesn't turn out as it should, they have to answer to us and their reputation is at stake. If we find it necessary, they will re shoot the photos at no extra cost to you.
The week before your shoot, make sure that you have planned all your outfits, if necessary, take them to the cleaners. For each roll of film that you have arranged to have, the photographer will get two looks. In the long run it will be most economical to do at least three to four rolls at once. Plan to bring four outfits for each roll of film so you can have a lot of different choices just in case something doesn't look good on the set. Make sure that you know the types and colours of clothing that you should be wearing.
