Christina Maria Aguilera born on December 18, 1980, on Staten Island, New York. Because of her father’s military career and mother’s tours as a violinist/pianist all over the Europe, Cristina must been changing the living place a lot during her childhood. Finally, her family stayed at Philadelphia when Christina was 6 years old and then she began performing in school talent shows with a great success – Aguilera became known as a “little girl with a big voice”.
In 1988 Cristina appeared on the nationally syndicated “Star Search”, but she didn’t win. Later she also was singing the National Anthem for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. And at the years of twelve, Aguilera joined the cast of “The New Mickey Mouse Club” where also appeared such singers as Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez and Felicity star Keri Russell.
After this show, Christina got the opportunity to try her musical skills abroad and in 1997 she moved to Japan and recorded her popular hit duet "All I Wanna Do" with pop star Keizo Nakanishi. In 1998 Cristina moved back to USA and recorded the song "Reflection" for Disney's “Mulan” which caused her successful record contract with RCA Records. Actually, Cristina was noticed for her powerful and wide vocal range – they needed someone "who could hit a high "E" above middle "C", claims Aguilera. In June 1998, after premiere of “Mulan”, “Reflection” turned into a Top 15 A/C single and Christina performed it live on “CBS This Morning” and the “Donnie & Marie Show”. The single was well evaluated by critics and gained a Golden Globe Nomination for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture.
Continuing the work and showing a special talent Christina released her self-titled debut album in 1999 summer with teen-orientated pop dances. Her popular single "Genie in a Bottle" jumped to the top of the charts and Aguilera’s album even in U.S. alone was sold over eight million copies.
The great success went along with young female singer’s career and her following "What a Girl Wants" became the single number one of the year 2000 and Aguilera then won a Grammy for Best New Artist. Speaking about Grammy awards, Christina was nominated for five 2003 and 2004 Grammy’s: Song of the Year - "Beautiful", Best Female Pop Vocal Performance - "Beautiful", Best Pop Collaboration with Vocal - "Can't Hold Us Down" (with Lil'Kim), Best Remixed Recording - "Beautiful" and Best Pop Vocal Album - "Stripped" released in 2002. This one was some kind of huge Christina’s transformation both as an artist and a person."I'm completely excited and I'm not really scared, because this is me. I can't hide. I'm not a puppet. I can't just sit up there and keep doing the same kind of music. It's time for me to explore”.
Everything what Christina talks about such enormous her success remains in a small way, she claims to be feeling very reflective and grateful for everything she achieved – “The greatest thing is being able to interact with fans and touch peoples' lives. I know that's a greater accomplishment than selling records. For that I give thanks. I simply love the job I'm doing”.
Christina Aguilera also has enviable experience in numerous television appearances and she is a spokesperson for a famous cosmetics “Fetish”, Coca-cola production, Versace, Sketchers, MAC-cosmetics, Virgin-mobile, Mercedes, Declare Yourself.com and “Xpose” perfume.
