"The Castle" post in Joanna D. Wallace blog

The Castle

In Montjuïc, the Olympic mountain where the Games of 1992 were celebrated, there is a castle, facing the sea, whech served centuries behind to defend to the city of the pirate ships.

During the Civil War (1936-39), from him the legal forces were bringing down fascist planes and Hitler's bombardiers. Then the general Franco gave the orders to shoot in his court of weapon the president of Catalunya, Lluïs Companys and hundreds of other democrats.

It does little, the castle has happened to be a property of the city and it will turn into a museum for the peace.

His old walls to the fin will shelter a noble intention after 70 years of accumulating tortures and executions.

A military building that happens to be a museum for the city. Well!

Hi Joanna!
As a student of history I have always been surprised between the war like nature of a castle and the beauty of their architecture. Here I sit, in my dining room (it is where I keep my desk and computer) the windows are open and the pleasant breeze blows in through the open windows. The garden I see in the picture is lovely. I am guessing that is where the castle moat once was, since I see the bridge going to the entrance in the background. I think a military building becoming a museum is a wonderful thing.
As always, wishes for your continued health & happiness! :-)

Nicolo
