Work, Loss and A Truck With Air Conditioning

It is 3.14 a.m. and I can't sleep.

My eyelids feel so heavy, but every time I put my head on the pillow and try to sleep my brain just won't stop spinning around. Thoughts, worries, fears, anxieties they whirl around like a Merry-Go-Round spiraling out of control.

Today at work I spent most of the day outside grooming the landscape. I have to crawl around on my knees to weed and turn the soil in the planting beds. The family I work for, they have so much yard to take care of. I am lucky that I don't have to take care of the vineyards. I couldn't do that job on my own anyway. They have crews of agricultural workers that come in and do all the stuff with the vines. My most recent area of focus has been the strawberry beds that line the "dry stream" that runs through the middle of the entire landscape. Many of the strawberry plants were dying because they were not getting enough water from the automatic drip watering system.

After spending some time fixing the drip and figuring out where all the "spaghetti tubes" were buried I was finally able to re-route them so they were again providing water to the plants and not just sending it all into the dry stream bed. For the last three weeks I have been cultivating the soil so that the water can penetrate it to get to the plants roots. Today I was gratified to see that the strawberry plants are producing runners and new plants will soon be growing from them to fill the beds once again.  There really is no better treat then fresh strawberry shortcake made from your own sweet, ripe strawberries. Much of the work that I do is with the idea in mind of making life more pleasant for the family. They are good people and treat me well. I really love their kids, they are cute, one boy and one girl. Well behaved for rich kids. I think they are too young yet to realize that they have a priviliged life. I hope they don't get spoiled as they grow older.

My other project was creating a "Princess Pink Rose Garden" for their daughters 4th birthday. I have been working diligently to train these pink climbing roses onto a bower and along fences, so that the end result is a wall of roses. She loves pink. It's her very favorite color. Her birthday is coming up later this month and she is having a "Princess Pony Party." (chuckling) They have a pony named "Flicka" who lives in the stables with the other horses. I am pretty proud of the "Princess Rose Garden." It was my first focused project for them. It made me feel good when they saw what I could do with my skills and my patience.

The song "Shape of My Heart" by Sting from the album "Ten Summoner's Tales" has just started playing. I really like this song, it is a melancholy song about a card players life. It reminds me of my ex everytime I hear it. She was a beautiful red headed woman with blue eyes and a sprinkling of freckles across her nose and cheeks. One day she decided she needed to be in Georgia and started to pack her things up. She had air conditioning installed in her truck and a week later I was watching her drive away and out of my life. I am not very good at maintaining relationships. Even when I try, even when I am so in love it hurts, I just can't make things work out the way I want them to.

Uhm....well, I guess that's it for another blog that no one will read.
