petite modeling.. Don't feel bad I'm not tall enough to do Runway Well I have 1 more
inch lol.Anyways, there are different height requirements for which category you
would want to do..IMO commercial Modeling you have to be 5'5-5'7 im not
sure..but runway you could barely pass if your 5'8 because with heels you may be
5'10 or so.. |

models with perfect facial traits and a wonderful figure..!
Thank you for the encouragement, Retouching Inc! Do you know any good agencies
looking for small models for print?
Thank you for the helpful information! |

portraits, no, height is not an issue.

internationally and will tae small models p.e. for face modeling or print? I
keep applying at various agencies telling them what I focus on, but I hardly get
replies at all (which is, as I assume, due to my height). |

basic requirement... u cld try ur luck there |

| Date: 2007-05-06 06:57 Of course height is very important, and the most of the agencies are interested
in tall women.
If you are not tall enough, you may try to find an agency around your living
area and become a photomodel. If you have friends from the modeling business
then its just great, and you can be even an individual photomodel without
sharing your money with agency, if you dont, then its more difficult.
For internetional career if you aren't tall enough, its hardly possible to find
a modeling job. Again, with friends everything is possible |

but height is kinda a requirement. you could do commercial if you 5'7-5'0. |

girls and guys to meet the needs of their clients, why would they have to bother
with representing or marketing shorter ones?
That doesn't mean you can't go into other kinds of modeling, but you will have
to market yourself more than have representation. If you are talented, then your
talent might provide an entry into the commercial world where your looks will
also be useful.
Stevie is right, there. Many glamour and men's mag models are not runway tall.
Neither are a lot of top actresses and singers.
Jim Smith obviously does good work. Check out his portfolio. If that kind of
work appeals to you, there are many opportunities available. If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try! |

drape and sway of the fabrics as they walk.
print models don't need to do that. |

wide range of model heights. When shooting solo, anything within the average
human height range will do. When shooting with a partner, such as a male model,
the female cannot really be much more than half a head shorter than the male or
the image looks awkward. Funny this since when you look at average couples, the
height difference is usually greater. But we go with what has the best impact on
the human mind and that is symmetry.
With the commercial shooting I do, generally it will be modeling for local
businesses and there is a large range of clothing sizes available to dress
models in. With the fashion industry and especially with one of a kind clothing,
you cannot economically make one-of pieces in the full range of sizes. So the
industry settled on one size range and models have to fit that. Minor
alterations can be done on set, but only minor alterations. If you don't fit the
clothing, you go home.
At least it started that way. Things have evolved (or devolved) substantially in
the industry over the pasts decades with the God's establishing weigh-ins and
other assorted crap.
With the continued integration of the world and economic markets opening up in
the third world, there has been the introduction of models from cultures and
races where people are not as tall as Europeans. The industry has admitted some
of these people and has made accommodations for only those at the top by
designing clothes specifically for those persons and shows they will be
attending. Sort of Super Models with Uber power. Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should |

models.
other types of modelling doesn't really need to be tall.
I have a friend who is about 5' 4" and she's doing lots of commercials. |

to yourself. What is it about the way you look that makes you special?
Do not make this decision based on what your mother, your girlfriend or your
boyfriend tells you. They will tell you whatever you they think will make you
feel good because they love you. But they usually don't know anything about the
modeling business.
To become a model your look has to be marketable. A corporation would have to
believe that your face and/or body on their product will help them increase
their sales. Can you the handle that pressure? Can you handle the constant
rejection? If your answer is yes, then you are ready.
Don't let your height deter you of your dreams. |
