you. . . that's in my experience anyway, and after a while I get the hint.
Good luck though - I see you are becoming more and more serious in pursuing this
career. |

know who you are. Find ways to peak their interest in you. They have talent
coming at them left and right. What makes you stand out? What makes you more
deserving than the others? If someone asks me for a job and they never get back
to me, I assume they are no longer interested and I hire the next guy.
Do not assume that you are so important that they have time to chase you down
from among a hundred other applicants that week. Keep at it and one day a
project will come along that they may suggest you for or that totally suits your
look. When you get frustrated and turned off, that just makes room for someone
else.

week wait so iv learned. That if your not contacted for an interview then your
not whats needed and ur CD, photos etc get thrown out.
Even if you ring them and ask they will have the same response, maybe its
different where you are Howdy.I'm a 18 year old half asian from Ireland who really would love to get with an agency who can get her exposure or anything please look at my profile and get back to me |

So? Be persistent. Get someone's attention. Don't be a pain, but let them know
you are interested. You are one face out of dozens a day maybe. Make them
remember you.
Someone throws out CDs? They don;t file them? Anyhow...what's a CD? 10 cents?
Burn more. Take them another.
Do some jobs. Take them a magazine cover with your pic on it. Give them
something to market.
My grandma used to say: "Get busy! You aren't being paid for your looks you
know!" So, maybe you are being paid for your looks but you have to work for it.
Don't feel bad when I say this, but there are many girls just as pretty as you
are and some prettier walking into that agency. Give them something to show you
have character, mass appeal, the ability to be popular.
When an agency recruits and promotes a model, it costs a lot of money. The
agency absorbs all of these costs. They are not going to invest in promoting a
model who they judge might have a low probability of getting gigs. (A low rate
of return.) Heck, better safe than sorry, they often turn away models who have
potential simply because they are swamped. Also, since it costs money to promote
a model, an agency has to budget the amount of models it can safely handle and
still pay bills. To heavy a line-up of models and a couple things happen. 1)
They simply do not spend the money they should promoting all of the models; 2)
They go bankrupt from poor management.
When you sign with an agency, they are taking a gamble based upon their
experience and judgement of you and the available market. They must know that
they have a decent shot at making back the money they will be spending on
you.
So, give them the tools to believe in you. Looking pretty isn't going to do
it.
Also, the time may not be right for you. But next month, next season, next year
may be perfect. So, you always have to keep checking back (in a manner that
doesn't make them lock the doors and take out a restraining order against
you).
Be creative. Think outside the box. Even volunteer to be a free intern after
school at the agency and use that to learn the game from inside, to meet and
greet some of the buyers, to find contacts.
Impress someone.
Do anything but wait. Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should |

once more contact an agency I ve long wanted to work for, although they didn t
reply in the past!
However, I think it s almost impossible to get on the cover of a godd magazine
without the help of an agency or at least the help of a photographer working for
the magazine! Does anyone how advice on how to manage to do that apart from
gonig to go/sees reguarly? |

there are always startup magazines that may not last long. I recently spotted
one here having a cover model contest. Based on their web content and the places
they've found for their rack, they may not be long for this world, but they will
be around long enough for two or more girls to have a cover for their
portfolio.
Peruse everything, check with printing companies in the area. They may know
what's trying to get started. Scan your local web sites for links. The days of
paper start-ups may be coming to an end, but you can get exposure that wayIf I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try! |
