These are my shots in my portfolio, jurgita changed my rating from pro to semi-pro. What exactly are they looking for? what do I need to do?

The first thing you will discover is that when you open a topic, the attachment setting doesn't work. But it will for the next entry in the topic and thereafter.

Maybe the person who approved you hit the semi-pro selection by accident. I unintentionally gave someone amateur status. I'm very careful now with the mouse. :lol:

There are new moderators and it is a learning process for us. Complain in the help section and bear with us.

As for the pix. Great creativity. The first two of Giana had problems for me because the airbrush technique or effects filter obscured the model. In the chair shot, there's something out of kilter with how her legs look. In the standing shot, some of the effect goes right across her nose.

I hadn't viewed these before, so I'm pleased to see them now. You've got a vision going and I hope you have much success with it. You might also want to post some standard work and commercial images to show variety.

I can't say what was in the mind of whoever did it... but you have no description, no prior exhibitions or work examples. Your professional website is on smugmug and your professional email is with AOL.

Those aren't things which would convince me that you are a true professional (i.e. you make your living by photography alone).

Mr. Griffin thank you for your feedback, I will post more images tommorrow I'm not sure that they are commercial but it will be variety. I will look at the photos you QC'd and work on that. I would like to thank Jurgita for this web-site first and foremost, it'll grow as we grow.

Fairydreams, I take constructive critism very well, but I'm not sure that what you said is.
I also have myspace (lol). Thank you for answering my question (your way-not sugar coated) Your work is very polished, I'm not impressed with your web-site. The site I use now is not my portfolio site. What's wrong with Smugmug? I've done my research and it fits my needs and many other photographers needs.

"Do I make a living by my photography alone?" I'm going to take that as a compliment! Thank you! lol! I'm sincere about it. I need to get my ducks in a row is what your saying. One thing, point someone out to me that makes a living off of talent alone. I make my living from the Grace of God. He provides the birds with food, and as long as they eat i'll eat...

Hey! I have a Smugmug account!!! And I had AOL 15 years ago, ten years after I turned pro! And, I do not make my living by photography alone! I have a publishing company, a music distribution center, consult with the Senate and bury the dead.

I am going to have to call back all those people I have worked with over the last 25 years, refund their money and say "Sorry, observational evidence suggests I am not a pro."

What is wrong with an AOL email? Is it any different from hotmail, yahoo, google, lycos, etc?

And smugmug brings me in very good change.

Mr. Freeman, for what it is worth, I like your work. You have a creative eye and seem to be developing a technique that is eye-catching and will be the envy of others.

Weird. No 'Be my Friend' button on your port. Can a tog not ask another tog to be friends?

But like, any of those pics you have displayed here for sale as framable art prints? Two in particular tickle my fancy.

Carib G and Isaac, to do the friends thing you join the Flirt Zone--I know, I was reluctant too, and I still haven't asked nor added a friend, just the option.

I do bookmark some people so I can quickly check if they've done a recent post.
If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!

Free email addresses look unprofessional. Seeing as it costs next to nothing to get a domain name and your own email address. The internet is a means of presenting yourself and using a free address is poor presentation. Think of it as similar to turning up to an interview without taking care of your apprearance.

A free address does not mean that you *can't* be a professional, it just makes it a lot less likely.

Also if you don't earn most of your money from photography, perhaps you are a semi-pro :)

Professional and Amateur do not relate to quality, but to jobs vs hobby. Similarly, neither term is an insult or praise, just a statement of fact.

Hey I fixed the photo with the glare over giana's eye. I still don't see what's wrong with the chair photo, but I took it out for now. Check out the latest photos i added to my portfolio. Do you think they'll change my status from semi pro to pro now?
