If You Are With An Agency, Does This Mean You Cant Work For Anyone Else.

just a question, when you are with an agency does this mean that you cannot accept any work they dont find for you, and can u strictly belong to one agency at a time only, i saw famous models such as kate moss is with up to three modeling agencies around the world.

it depends on the contract. Its written where agencies have exclusive rights. in most cases it is bound to teritory.

There's contractual agreements to be adhered to, but the agreements shouldn't be such that it would interfere in what you may do in private.

It depends on the agency and the contract you sign with them. It is possible that an agency can sign you exclusively to them and prohibit you from accepting outside work or work not cleared by them. Read any contract offered and understand it even if that means getting it reviewed by a lawyer. Discuss your concerns with the agency and make your decision from there. Do not let an agency pressure you. Do not let anyone tell you that you must sign a contract then and there. You should be able to take the paperwork home to think about.

Now, there are also laws specific to areas that agencies have to deal with. Some agencies may not be able to control what you do outside of the country or sometimes even outside of a local jurisdiction that they are in. Some agencies have scopes that reach internationally. Now, before you figure agency rules and restrictions are unfair, consider how much money and time a good agency will be investing in you. They have a right to make a return on that investment. There are non-exclusive agencies that may tell you you cannot accept certain types of jobs. The biggest example is nudes. There are clients who do not wish to have someone as their spokesmodel who does nudes. So an agency may ask you to restrict that if that is not one of the things they intend to promote you for.

By and large reputable agencies treat their models fairly. They have to or lose the basis of their stock and trade. So, don't worry too much. Just use the intelligence God gave you in making decisions.
