herself is in a competition, perhaps she can tell you whether or not it has
resulted in increased exposure. I suppose that on a popular website, if the
winner is promenently displayed for a long period, that thatmight result in some
exposure. But exposure alone is not the key if interested parties do not know
how to contact you or if you wish to be contacted. Often when trying to locate a
model that is displayed on a website, webmasters do not return queries. You
might want to check with a webmaster first to see if they respond to such
queries or if they pass inquiries along to you.
You should always make certain that interested parties can get in touch with
you. This may mean dealing with cranks, but that is the price paid. Some people
have managers to filter out the whakos.
Additionally, make certain that all vital information an employer might need to
make a decision about y ou is easly obtainable. The more work you make someone
do to find out about your availability, rates, modeling levels, etc., the less
likely that they will contact you. Pet peeve: Rates. When scouting for a project
in hand, time is always, always a factor. Everyone is always in a rush, behind
schedule or on deadline. Most models will not post rates fearful of being
undercut by the competition. Well, I am going to find out your rates anyways,
why make me work for it when I am watching the clock? Email requests sometimes
takes days to be answered. By that time, I likely will have moved on to another
candidate. But believe me, if you have the look I need, a few dollars difference
between you and my competition is not going to make my decision for me. Perhaps
there are others of a different view, but more likely, if you are a little
outside the budget, an attempt to negotiate will be made. And don't be afraid to
negotiate or move a little on your pricing. Most magazines do not pay much, if
anything to models, so don't carte blanche reject someone because their offer is
lower than you want.
Better than competitions, though, is sites like this. I rarely go to competions
except when a model asks me for a vote. Most of those sites take too much time
to navigate and are so poorly laid out that I want to scream when trying to view
multiple portfolios.
A site like this has tons of models on it, yes, and it is impossible to browse
every port looking for candidates. So you have to work the site. Be present in
forums and activities so that people become familiar with you, your face is seen
and you move up on the search engines. Nudge photographers by asking to be their
friend or dropping a "hello" email now and again. Announce both your
availabilities AND your bookings. Don't be afraid to ask to tag along if a
photographer in your area is doing a shoot. Be involved, be aware of things
happening on the site.
Never stop marketing yourself, not even for a day. And do not put all your eggs
in the internet basket. It is a tool and toolkits have more than one tool in
them. The site is your portfolio and instant portal to the world, but do not
neglect foot work and the local events around you. Everywhere you go, any
function or event you go to, have you noticed that there are photogaphers there?
Greet them. Tell them you are a model. Hand them you card. They'll get the hint
without you harrassing them for a gig. And while you are at those events,
realize that every event has an organizer and sponsors. Find and meet those
people. A ten second "hello, how are you. I'm Megan and I model" goes a long
way. It also helps to know a little about the event you are attending so that
you can engage in intelligent small talk.
You have a lovely face. Good bust. We should see more of your body however to be
able to judge you better. Can you include a few full length poses in your port
for good measure?
Hope this helps.
PS: Mole on inner right thigh....too much info? Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should |

doing just normal shoots. It will also give you valuable experience. No two ways
around it. Have to crawl before you can walk. |

| Date: 2007-05-21 18:19 Talent spotters sometimes get out to the holiday Parks Megan! You have many
around your own hometown, perhaps try to get involved on the major parks in some
way to get noticed or suggest a competition for holiday makers to the
entertainments managers?
I have some ideas on this and similar Megan! Msg me here or at the e-mail part
of my site if you wish ok?
Best wishes
