Hi!

I am a professional photo retoucher.
Let me know your thoughts about my portfolio

Is it competitive?

Thanks,
Yahor Shumski,
freelance photo retoucher

You have some before and after images, but more would be useful. It would also be a good idea to show different types of retouching rather than just the same plastic skin / background change. The more versatile you appear the more chance that someone will think you are the answer to their needs.

Now i know where should a photo retoucher refer to. Good portfolio you have there Yahor. To me that is. You do show that basic photography is still a very important skill to come out with good images, but retouching could give much impact it could turn an almost nothing to a magazine cover stuff. Love them all.

I however unable to tell whether it is competitive. That was the 1st retoucher portfolio i ever visit. But if i'm looking for a retoucher.. i can stop now. :)

wow i love all your work...haha better than i can ever do. I never saw another retoucher's work before so I'm not sure. But good job! Wish i could geta retoucher going haha:thumbup:

* Love the Life* :thumbup:

I downloaded some software called Portrait Professional, it cost like $50 and does a great job on faces. All you have to do it tell it where the eyes, nose and mouth are and then it sends your picture to their server and what you get back is an airbrushed picture with all the blemishes removed. It takes about 5 seconds to process the picture. Once it returns to your pc you can use sliders to increase/decrease all the effects. It is really amazing. And way cheaper than a photoshop etc. You should google it and check out their site. I feel like it's cheating but everyone I take always prefers the PP version to the original. There are examples in my portfolio and on my site. at www[dot]mjones.faries.bm/pictures/2007/20070409_Portraits/index.html

I forgot to mention it also has an option to reshape the face to what it considers a more attractive look. It is pretty slick, most of the people I have taken are not models just regular people and generally they have a little extra meat on the bone. This software slims them down but not to a point where they are not recognisable. Incredibly if they are wearing earrings it repositions them perfectly. I'm sure it sounds like I'm a sales person for the company, but no, just a very happy customer.

Here is an example of before and after.

BEFORE

AFTER enhancement

I took a look at your portfolio. You have beautiful skin, I so doubt it will make much of a difference. I think some cropping and colour adjustments might be needed though. If I have time tomorrow I will take a look at a couple for you. If there is a specific pic you have in mind then let me know.

Here was a quick attempt of your avatar pic. Really just colour enhancement with very slight airbrush. image size was really too small to make significant changes. There was also some work on the eyes to make them white and sharper

I also think you should take the original of this pic and crop it like this. Put the focus on you and not the architecture in the background. (and the how to pose book bottom left) :-)

I also cropped the one below as you had a black pole behind your right leg. The colours seemed quite faded too, so I bumped them up a touch.

hey Mike, Thanks for the retouching. Great job! Have bunch of photos with me. I will select some & give it to you for retouching.

Wow.I like those photos 'Before' 'After'
