photographers? before you do anything, please look through the photographer
portfolios, and decide whether his work quality matches up to editorial
standards. if the photographer's work is good, you may want to exchange time for
their pictures instead. |

apparel? I mean its a bit difference if the model is with a coat or bikini.. If
the fee is not equal than how much does it vary?Love to Love |

| Date: 2007-01-24 18:55 I agree w/ Billy, Always look @ the photographers portfolio - I their willing to
pay and you know your not a top model then you must ask yourself. But on the
other side like Jurgita said it depends on location/professionally |

situation. I see she is amateur from USA Arkansas (i think). So tell the approx
fee to charge a photographerLove to Love |

then they should pay costs except if you wish for some copies of the photos
which should be charged at a minimum cost to [*Link removed*] should also tell
the photographer that if you use any of the photos for magazines, newspapers,
etc you will credit him which basically means you will add his name or company
by the side of the photograph of you. |

they are willing to pay.
There is no union guild price structure to follow. Prices vary so wildly from
model to model and project to project. It is all negotiation. You have entered a
world where some models can command over $100,000 for an appearance to as little
as $25 and a mention.
You might want to talk to a photographer in your area and ask what their
experience has been with model rates.
I can give you an idea of the average local rates here for low tier models, but
I am not certain they will do you any good where you live, but it might be a
starting point.
An amateur here, without much experience and over whom you'll be tearing your
hair out trying to get a decent shot can get $100 for a day's shooting.
Then we move to the semi-pros:
$25 to $50 an hour for casual and evening wear
$50 to $75 an hour for swimwear
(There are no local models who will do lingerie, topless or nude, hence no
average price for that.)
In Las Vegas I have shot models topless for $100 an hour, two hour minimum.
Models I fly here from the states are another story. I tend to mostly use models
that are more experienced. I have a standard rate determined by the budget for
my magazine that I offer female models:
$75 an hour for casual, evening and tropical wear
$100 an hour for bikini/thong swimwear and lingerie
$150 an hour for topless
$200 an hour for full artistic nude, non-pornographic
These rates generally come with a minimum 8 hour guarantee, airfare, hotel and
food allowance.
Now, these rates are a a bit higher than some of these models charge and for
others a bit lower. I mid-zoned the fee while budgeting to try and attract the
level of model that suits my purposes best. Plus they get four days expenses
paid in a tropical paradise. I cannot afford to bring in someone who does not
know what they are doing, so I pay a little extra for the proven skills.
Some models will base their fee on the print circulation of the publication,
raising their rate for higher circulation. Many publications those offer take it
or leave it fees for non-big-name models.
Another thing you might look into is setting a mandatory minimum number of hours
to be paid for. An hour's pay is hardly worth it for some girls to get up before
the crack of dawn, spend two hours getting made up, pack a suitcase full of
clothes, spend an hour commuting, etc.
Try this for now: Tell the photographers interested in you $50 an hour, two hour
minimum, and include all levels up to swimwear, no thong. See if they balk at
that amount. (If they do, they are cheap good-for-nothings.) But I think you are
worth at least $50 an hour. I could not tell from your portfolio if you do
topless or nude, but my opinion is that a girl shouldn't take it off TFP or for
under $75 an hour WITH a minimum time frame.
One caveat: You really should make an effort to find out what other models are
charging and photographers paying in your area. You really do not want to, by
accident, undercut the local models. Yeah, you are allowed to, but it is not
proffessional and not nice. Common courtesy.
I hope I have been able to help at least a little. Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should |

models here. You really are an asset to the Jurgita forum and I think you should
be congratulated in your posts!
To Jennifer Barker: I'm sorry for going off-topic! If you have no experience,
then I would pick a good photographer, and go with TFCD. If you have experience,
and were to do fashion, then maybe 25 dollars?

| Date: 2007-05-06 07:15 Once, i've got an offer to pose for "met-art", probably someone heard about this
magazine and site? Its about nude art.
An Italian photographer promised to pay me 100 euro for the whole photosession.
I found it strange and asked some people. French scout told me such job should
be paid like 500 euro for a set! An English photographer told me in England its
500 pounds per set!
So when i told this Italian guy doesnt he wants too much for the too low
payment, He said: "Hey, but you arent a supermodel, right?"
it was very offensive. But i am glad i have people who can help me. So better
always ask several people if you doubt about the payment. |

What Lolo said!
Something I should have mentioned but was blinded by my deepset prejudice
against TFP/TFCD.
Trade is a good way to gain experience without the pressure of a professional
performance. Start small, create a demand, then go up in price. Demand sets
price. ARe there any fashion shows in your area? Trade shows? Fairs? Races? They
do not even have to be professional grade. Charity events will do. Volunteer as
a hostess, 'car' girl, product spokesman, etc. Basically as a live model that
helps promote events. The eye candy that draws men to events. These events also
attract flocks of photographers. At car shows and races, they will want to take
your picture next to cars. At fairs while you are presenting trophies to
winners. At fashion shows of course on the runway and immediately after. What
these events will do for you is give you a chance to meet and entice
photographers, feature writers, product representatives, etc. Have tons of
business card size comp cards on you to give out. Master the art of flirtation
and the 30 second conversation. 30 seconds is all the time in the world you need
to make an impression in someone's mind. Remember, you want everyone you meet to
be thinking about you later on. Make sure they have an easy way to contact you.
And be strong, confident and certain in your presentation. Confidence bring
success, insecurity brings out the advantageous weasels.
Do these events, be seen, and eventually people will be calling you with paying
gigs. Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should |

In Austria and Germany the pricing is nearly like Carib Goodies said
Amateurphotographers pay less fee and Amateurmodels get less fee.
With professional photographerit depends on the utilization. Artwork is less fee
than in commercial (advertising) work)
Most magazines pay about € 250,-- for the day
... (Magazines, offering nude) € 500,-- and more (depends on kind of posing)
Playboy pay more ;-)
For some work, the model has to get an extra fee - the "buy out"
A good agency is the best partner for a model to help her in business, pricing,
...Tomorrow must be the longest day because everything is scheduled on it |

possible protect your rights to future use of your own image.
Many a model has gone on to other pursuits and found inconvenient pictures
showing up, so consider carefully, also, what you do while modeling. Will you be
amused if your grandchildren see your pictures or embarrassed?
It's up to the individual. Me, I'm shameless, but not everyone feels the same
way when they get older. If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try! |

Also you might look into representation in Little Rock with regard to trade
shows and conventions. Dallas and Houston are other good markets within
reasonable distance. If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
