of field turns the tree-filtered sunlight into a dapper halo of lights around
her. Beautifully composed. And the single large pearl is a brilliant contrast to
the muted tones. Like a single rose its starkness aptly accents the softness of
the piece. Bravo!
Catwalk, Blanchardstown: MmmHmm. I need contact with her too! Nice model,
but more importantly, is how you captured her. Those of us who have shot runway
know that it isn't the easiest thing to do, lighting-wise, timing-wise and being
poked, bumped and prodded by 'official' people on all sides. I say you did a
thumbs-up job on each of the Cat Walk shots.
I always like spider photos. I have a significant collection of them I have done
myself. I like what you did with the water droplets and the fresh angle. Much
better than the classic dew-soaked spider webs pics that are so over done. It is
nice to see both a fresh perspective and a concept so finely executed.
The Lahinch, Ireland shot is the first of your works that doesn't jump
out at me or impress me. Unfortunately, it rather makes me think of a snap shot
which could be taken by anyone. On the technical side, the contrast is way to
low. Yes, it is a grey day, but there seems to be no emphasis on that. If hte
grey is the focus, make it snap at us. I also suspect you had some trouble with
the wind. Might I venture that you stood off a ways for that shot and used a
long lens? Slow shutter speed, low ISO/ASA and zooming in fog and wind spell
disaster for sharp focus as camera shake takes its toll.
East Coast co Wicklow does a much better job of conveying the bleakness,
depression and hidden desperation of a grey day. The composition is great. The
single tower in the background lends to the air of desolation as does the lone
power line. The two figures, features half hidden in darkness also ad
significantly to the message of the photo. All of your angles of the picture
elements, including the clouds, move nicely to the uniform vanishing point,
lending focus to the image. Good job on that one.
Kells Road Races Crisp! Focus, contrast, colors, motion...all crisp,
crisp, crisp! Sports Illustrated...here he comes!
