Hey guys i have a slight concern, i wanted to register with an agency in the UK and the said the i should send pictures of me with my details and so i did. and they responded by asking me to send at least one more picture and asked if i had any scares, birth marks etc. on my face. and i did.:)

So they sent me a responce after a reminder that was sent to them and the told e that i had been accepted and that i would pay notin to be registered and that i have a 1 year contract. But they told me to pay 125 pounds for the creation of a job card using pictures that i would send to them again!!!. :dunno: :endecided:

so i asked one of my friends in scotlant to check it out and she found a company with that same name but a diffenent address than that which was posted on their website.

Please can any one give me advice cause i am not sure, it looks like a good offer but i dont want to end up paying my hard earn money to fraudstars.:endecided:

Don't hand money over to an agency. They should get all the $$$ they need from the commission on the jobs they find you. If they don't think they will, that means they don't think they will find you any jobs!
***** Spring approaches and soon the fairies will awaken *****

I thot so to but it just seem a little genuine because they said it would be a small cost for a good job card.

My problem was in the part where they asked me to send pictures for the job card instead of inviting me for a photo shoot like most agencies do.

thanx any way

Thats a scam olu.. a real agency does not require you to send money. they r supposed to get you th job then a certain portion goes directly to them. so keep off such...:muscle:
:muscle:

Thanx and note taken i guess there would be other offers i am just a little sad that people would want to take advanage of others like this.

well if any other person has gotten such offers i suggest you seek adivce on the forum.

Was purchasing the comp cards from them a condition of acceptance or did they simply say that they offer that service but for a fee? Many agencies that provide non-exclusive contracts won't provide you generic comp cards on their dime that you can use to promote yourself without them earning a commission. Your real caution should be when they require you to make purchases from them.

Before I can tell you whether their comp card solicitation was good or not, I need more information about it. Also, can you provide the name of the agency for further investigation? Multiple addresses are not necessarily a red flag either. A reason to look further, yes, but not a strike.

Let me know some more and perhaps I can help you know if this is good or bad.

This sounds so much like a Uk money making scam please beware, as I think you already are! The attitude of establishing respectable businesses and long term businesses in the UK has changed much over the past two decades and so many try to make a fast buck! so you are right to be wary!

The more postings we get like this and like Carib says the more info that you can offer the better, as then we can look at more depth and advise others of suspect scams!

Maybe that's because they had no place to invite you? Has anyone seen their office to prove it really exists? Or does anyone know models connected with this agency?
Looks like scam…

You're not the first person to tell me this name. The other person said about the £125 fee but as she's under 18 I urged her to get her parents to check it out.

If I get anything specific on them I'll pass it on.

try to talk to them 'life'. So meet them or by telephone... and its true what the others say... you shouldn't pay anything...

I don't see any specific advantage or benefit in you dealing with them. The comp card fee is a requirement of acceptance. An agency shouldn't nickel and dime you like that. Calling them a scam is too strong a word. They are operating and placing jobs but not in the same way that a major league agency does.

I find their methods a bit lazy and it appears that they don't sink much promotional money behind the models registering with them. Of course, I have not seen their operation from the inside out but what is visible appears to put an undue burden on the model to promote themselves.

I would call them more of a listing service than an active model agency. They appear passive forcing the model to have to be more proactive.

I personally would spend the 125 or hire one of their recommended photographers just for the privilege of giving them 20% to 25% of my earnings.

I got your message thanks Oluwaseun with the copy of the statement and further to what I said earlier I can only reinforce what Carib (Karl) also stated above, it appears more of a typical Money Making Listing operation than a scam as such! Still aimed at taking your money though but dressed up in a nice package idea :D That if you break it down you could do yourself without paying out for the privalige!

I have just posted elsewhere (Soz for the repeat now) regarding pre-requisites for Model Agencies and like like registering there port pages here, what are the requirements?
If they are moderate, then perhaps as a suggestion: New Model Agencies should be required to provide reference or be recommended by an existing member here to be approved! Something along those lines, to avoid so many false hopes and people adding themselves as new agencies to take advantage of the membership here!

JUST MY THOUGHTS!!

Best wishes all from
MIKE!

Note: I am embarassed to note that the last few agencies questioned at forums have all been UK based!

dont give them any money if they want money there not legit:shocked:

They could be a scam but they might not be. I think a lot of people are quick to yell that any agency collecting money is a scam.

There are a lot of agencies that are just not willing to spend to develop a models portfolio. Call it lazy or whatever you want but unlike the big agencies most other ones that do not sign an exclusive contract with you will NOT have everything done at their expense.

This one however seems to be a little suspect. You can contact me offline to talk more. Just got home and off to eat then out. :D

On the upside to all of this, you got accepted, so if you're "iffy" about the whole situation about multiple addresses, find another agency and apply to them. If one agency liked your look, I'm sure another will. Good luck!!

From now on 50 activity points will turn into 1 credit, so you may earn credits as easy as never before !!!
