Hair Lengths And Modelling

I was just wondering if its better in terms of modelling to have longer hair, or does it not really matter? I'm assuming long hair cause it allows the hair stylist to have more looks to choose from, but I maybe wrong. Just asking, cause I'm wondering whether I should grow my hair out longer. But I don't like it long :( , it takes too much time to manage.

well there are easy in easy out extentions, and even if your hair is long they might use things to poof it up anyway. and shorter hair i thinks a bit more versatile, no need to cut and it can be down to your ass in a matter of an hour or so
Soon enough i'll be on your wall and you'll wanna be me

That is true Simone, I never thought of that. I guess wigs are sometimes used as well.

I think with either short or long hair what matters to the client or the agency is "If You Have The Look" after all there are a lot of models doing well with almost bold heads  so just work on having the right look and believe it or not the Photographer can make you look like what they want with or without the hair.

All the Best

I think you already look nice with short hair, Margaret. But that's just me.

Oluwaseun: That's true! Thanks for the words of wisdom :)

Tim: Thanks Tim :)

It doesn't matter whether your hair is long or short. What matters is how you project in front of the mirror. And you already look great even with short hair.

Hi! Margaret:D

I think the stylists can do more with mid length layered hair... but it's subjective to how much they can do in terms or braiding etc.

I mean, you can ad extensions to mid length hair, but it's hard to disguise long hair.

It's an issue I faced funny enough, as a guy.

They struggled to do much with my long hair on shoots other than pony tails on most occassions.

But now its a bit shoter, they can push it forward, slick it back, centre or side part it, mess it up, quiff it... etc...

But at the end of the day you need to find your look, and be comfortable in your look and sell that.

Thanks for the advice Romeo :D, my hair is shoulder length at the moment. Just need to find a right hairstyle for it cause at the moment it looks rather boring when I let it down. So its normally up in a ponytail which I guess can look rather boring at times as well . That's so funny that as a male model, its the complete opposite, that they have more trouble with longer hair than short hair.

If you look at most of the top models, they have long hair!

Because it can be styled any which way for shows, shoots, etc.

But alot also have short funky, edgy cuts which can work too, if they have the look to pull it off!

It depends what suits your look I guess... But I personally think long hair is safer ;)

Most Runway Models do have long hair, & I noticed at the Victoria Secrets Fashion Show in Las Vegas, last yr., that the majority of Gorgeous Gals had LONG HAIR with no bangs.
Even though I have such NATURALLY THICK HAIR--stemming from my biological father's mother, who was 100% PUREBRED Cherokee, I find it a tedious task to endure just for versatility's sake...BUT, since every1 of my family members & school alumni know that I was born to do hair...I keep it long for that artistic reason.
I agree that at the end of the day, one should be comfortable with the coif--
No sense beating around the 'BUSH' atop of things;)
:D
'Hair' TODAY, (Cy) ;) .:. NET=---> Tomorrow! :lol::lips:

I just cut my hair because i wanted a changed look or new look.

Before making any change, ask your stylist, he or she will be in the best position to tell you if you have to go long ot short.
