Well, Sam,

You have your style and you've stuck to it. That's an admirable thing. However (and you must have known I had a "however" coming), One of the principles repeated over and over in my student days by our commercial photography instructor was "never shoot a closeup upward below a person's nose, it is not flattering.

Of course circumstances and character studies might find that such a shot revealed (but, hopefully, nothing green) something of the nature of the person--how else show that a person is snooty, for instance?

In the instance of your freckled model, I think it is distracting and unflattering, but then I would have used a screen to soften her skin and changed the lighting to create some shadow. If I had the time and resources to play with it. But that's just me.

Just as I had to take my instructor's advice with a grain of salt, so should you take any criticism, unless you see value in it.

Here's one of mine from those student days. WARNING NUDE IMAGE
If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try!

very peaceful n simple..i like that theres not alot of make up an it looks natural...good work

dear elizabeth and charles,
i thank you both for your comments, criticism and encouragement. much appreciated.
charles, there's nothing in your observations that i can take amiss. it isonly that i have long left the academic methods behind me--as you too must have at times, and as i suppose many eventually do. you are right, however, because in my teaching i do say things quite similar to yours.
all best and thanks again.
