	Date: 2007-03-19 10:40 I LOVE the moden ballet ! Its so far from the boring classical. Thats a real Art. Have you ever seen the faces of classical dancers while they re performing? It's awful, seems they hate what they do Or if no hate but they feel the bore of it. Classical ballet is dying.

I love ballet - but I think it's no longer popular because the dancers, music, and choreographers aren't dancing to the tune of time. Some, thank god, have smelt the coffee and got into gear, but there aren't enough I think. Think about the difference in music style: ballet is typically to classical music, but very few people actually enjoy hearing [forget listening to] classical music these days, so how can you expect them to sit through a whole show of it?

I think another problem is that many ballerinas don't show emotion properly and don't develop their own style enough. It's all very well to have perfect technique and poise and legs that go behind your ears when you lift them, but it's useless if you can't -feel- what you're dancing!

Glad you liked it, Larry. That's shot with a Canon 1D, which you may remember is only a 4.1 megapixel camera. Truly not all pixels are alike. f4.5 at 1/332s at 135mm in either a 70-200 or 100-400 zoom. I was using both and the megadata doesn't say. All at 800 to 1600 ISO.

From the back of a theater with good light on the stage. Tripod, of course. By the way, it's a cropped image.

I like ballet, not just because my granddaughters do it.

If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try!
