| Date: 2007-04-15 17:31 When it comes to turns, there's that old, ancient exercise that you do... you
stand looking straight in front of you, then while focusing on the point in
front of you, you start turning the rest of your body but leave your head
staring ahead. When you can't turn anymore without turning your head, you whip
your head round and find the spot again with your eyes.
VERY IMPORTANT!!! WARM UP YOUR NECK AND BACK PROPERLY FIRST!! and of course, do
the exercise slowly except for the head turn. That'll train you to focus, and if
you don't focus your turns are doomed to dizzying falls
and no, being short-sighted doesn't affect it just focus on something
relatively easy for you to see lol.
As for moves, Bruce Lee used to say the body has to flow like water, and I've
yet to hear a better description for the ideal of movement |

best way to get that working well. The faster you spot, the faster you will
turn!
Finding your center of balance is also very important! You can imagine that
there is a pole running straight from the tip of your head, right through to you
toes. It is also good to feel that you are lifting your upper body up, but
pushing your feet down. This opposing force can make your turns really
strong!
Hold your stomach tight and use your arms to help whip you around |

practice. That is how you can really tell a student from a professional. A pro
dancer is able to look soft while everything is held strong. A good dancer makes
everything look easy & effortless! |
