is hot to do Glamour, he wants to see lots of skin. It's up to you what you do,
but if you do don't sign away the rights to your own image. If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try! |

be... LOL.
It probably leaves less to the imagination then some fine erotic art, as it more
than makes up for it with seductive posing, props, etc...
It generally lends itself to a push towards the more pornographic side of the
industry - it is clearly selling sexual imagery. Rarely have I seen glamor
images in a working fashion or commercial models book... although the odd
lingerie model I know does have a FHM cover or the likes thrown in - which is
definitely glamor.
It really comes down to what direction you want to take your career. Do you want
it to be wholesome and the sort of thing you would show your kids - one day - or
your grandparents (with out wanting Pop to have a heart attack) ? Or are you
happy to sexify up your port and move more towards the flesh trade?
I don't want to seem judgmental - I've done nude modeling and it can be quite
artistic and tasteful - certainly great glamor photographers can achieve
amazingly seductive and eye capturing images...
Often though I have found - with my girlfriends that model - that many "glamor
photographers" are just guys with cameras, who want chicks to get undressed as
much as they will - yes sometimes "more undressed" than glamor implies... in the
name of art - often with out the artistic, let alone technical merits to be
venturing into such forays with models.
My advice would be to make sure of two things:
1. Check out the photographers work. Scope out if he has references. And that he
is indeed who he says he is. Is his work of a high standard that you think the
images will not look cheap and tacky? If not see point 2.
2. Make sure there will be appropriate compensation. If it's an AMAZING
photographer, you might be inclined to test for the pics alone. But if you are
unsure of the concept, or what the result will be, consider requesting payment
for your disrobing - to any state.
I have been a fine art model a few times, on the side from my professional
fashion and commercial work. Often my face in unrecognizable in the results. The
images were great. The photographers amazing. Still they have offered me
compensation for my time and input - as they knew it was fair because they were
going to be selling and exhibiting the works. As such... consider whether these
images are ones you will be able to use - and what the photographer will use
them for...
It might be worth checking out some of the forum discussions on Model Releases
and the Copyrights of Images...
Way to often I see beginners being made to "strut their stuff", half naked for
the camera, when they are still getting used to posing and being in front of the
camera.
Once I read that you should be able to pose naked in the mirror and look
comfortable and natural nude before you can make clothes look good. Maybe this
is true - but you don't have to be in front of the camera naked or half naked to
improve. And once those photos are out there you will have a real hard time
getting them supressed later in your career if you decide they aren't
flattering, or are too provocative.
Good for you for seeking feedback and thinking about it before diving in. It's
an important decision.
Regards,
Romeo. |

excitement, especially when delusively alluring."
The definition of glamour in a photography sense is "About the model". That is,
the model is the subject of the image as opposed to fashion and catalogue where
the model is just a hanger for the clothes. So glamour can be anything from a
headshot to nude body. Glamour is not pornography although it can be more
directed to a mature audience. Glamour is most often seen in Maxim and FHM where
the model is the subject. Playboy style is also glamour, beyond Playboy you are
into Adult/pornography.
It comes down to how tasteful the shot is and what is shown. In pornography
nothing is left to the imagination, glamour is much broader, still sexy but
ranging from fully clothed to totally naked.
Every shot in my port can be classed as glamour, yet only a couple are nude/semi
nude.
Bottom line ask the photog for more details about his requirements of the shoot
and state your limits. |

I just wanted to add that a model should NEVER do anything that they are not
comfortable with. If you feel in your gut that you don't want to do something
then don't do it. You can always change your mind and do it later but you can't
change your mind and undo it if you already did it. |

"Glamor." The actress Rita Hayworth in her 1940s pinup pose:If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try! |

In any industry, but especially ours .... Professional is Professional is
Professional.
And, no matter how talented, how fab a bod you/one have, how much, or how
little, you "show" if you ain't comfy with the shot and into it ... the photos
will only be as good as you feel. That goes for fashion, lifestyle or
GLAMOUR.
Keep on doing it!
