I reviewed most of your shots during moderation and found them acceptable. You
do have problems with light, generally with it being too direct. Shadows can be
both friend and enemy. Undefined under a hat, a shadow is our enemy. Defined and
under or beside a nose, it is our friend (in portraiture).
You have to decide what you want sharp, the model or the background. This can't
be done merely by review in the little lcd screen in the camera, which is why
quite a few pros have laptops on the job these days to make instant decisions
from much larger views of their work. If you have a beautiful background and
you've framed the model in such a way that he or she is artistically
incorporated into it, then make it as sharp as you want. Otherwise, adjust your
aperture until the zone of focus excludes everything except your subject.
Keep at it, you have good potential.If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
