I recently added new photos. I have been working on lighting etc.
Your comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael

I guess I'll have to take up the cudgel. :cantlook:

I reviewed most of your shots during moderation and found them acceptable. You do have problems with light, generally with it being too direct. Shadows can be both friend and enemy. Undefined under a hat, a shadow is our enemy. Defined and under or beside a nose, it is our friend (in portraiture).

You have to decide what you want sharp, the model or the background. This can't be done merely by review in the little lcd screen in the camera, which is why quite a few pros have laptops on the job these days to make instant decisions from much larger views of their work. If you have a beautiful background and you've framed the model in such a way that he or she is artistically incorporated into it, then make it as sharp as you want. Otherwise, adjust your aperture until the zone of focus excludes everything except your subject.

Keep at it, you have good potential.
If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try!

Thanks for the input. I appreciate constructive criticism. It is how we all learn.
I will incorporate your suggestions in future work. Thanks again and have a
great holiday.

Michael

You have a nice choice in models

:lips: Nice work!

lovely work:thumbup:
:muscle:

May I suggest that you rename your images so that they are not all called Michael's.
Otherwise a statement like "i really like the soft lighting in Michael's" isn't going to be very helpful to you.

Generally you have done a fine job, but look out for backdrops that have folding creases. It was really obvious in the image called Michael's (see what I mean :) )

I would like to thank you all for your comments and suggestions.
All the best.

Michael
