http://www.orlandosentinel.com/services/newspaper/printedition/sunday/localandst
ate/orl-spotlight2507nov25,0,2109568.story
(If there is a gap above, copy the link and delete the gap when you paste it on
the search blank)
If that doesn't work go to Google and search the Orlando Sentinel. Once on the
Orlando Sentinel site, search the name, Kalyn.
It should produce an article, basically an interview with a small-town girl,
17-year-old Kalyn Williams.
How did she do it. Her mom took pictures of her in the backyard and sent them to
area agencies. The two named were Alexa in Tampa, Florida and MC2 in Miami,
Florida.
Yep, amateur shots sent to legitimate LOCAL agencies. (Doesn't mean they didn't
have to get some pro shots done later, but it got her foot in the door).
She has appeared in V magazine, Seventeen magazine and is on the web sites of
Abercrombie for kids and Hollister. She's become a requested model by Bruce
Weber, a well-known photographer. She's already earned enough money to pay for
college, although she is still in high school, and to buy a new car.
She is only 5' 6" , well below the catwalk standard. She said that because of
her height she doesn't get much high fashion work, but she gets a lot of
commercial work.
So, what lessons do we learn from this?
Get a parent involved. Keep trying at legitimate agencies, even little local
ones. Save your money for important things--education first and toys second.
Alexa Model Management is listed here on Jurgita, by the way.If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try! |

Fir getting the foot inside modeling, you don't need any expensive pro-shots.
Most legitimate agencies want to see your snapshots from holyday and family life
before the first interview. You need some headshots and some full body shots ...
better is in different looks (funny, serious, ... )
If a agency want's you ... great
Than you can think about getting some pro-shots. Speak with your agency about.
And please - if you want to know how the images have to look - buy a fashion
magazine and you will find some ideas
Internet forums are nice and some of them are helpful to get contacts.
But ... only good modeling agencies will realy work for you - because they earn
good money with your success Tomorrow must be the longest day because everything is scheduled on it |
