Well, I think we need a contest to mark the end of the year 2007 in Jurgita..who is in support for this idea?

What do you think?

In this we could ask for the support of photographers and maybe agencies....instead of the normal prizes that the winners get an upgrade to VIP/Gold /Silver, this time round if the winner is for example from Virgin Islands n we have photographers like Karl there...Karl gives the winner a photo shoot n after Jurgita admin is notified that the photo shoot was successful the photographer gets an upgrade to VIP mayb one or two months

I noticed in another post that pple wanted different prizes and I think this idea would work. But then b4 joining the contest everyone would have to identify the photographer for the shoot so that there are no complications after winning.

Any ideas???

Sorry, Lucia. Just couldn't resist. (But you knew that when you slung your web and tempted me to post.. Dang, where is that tongue sticking out smilely when you need it?)

Cool idea, Lucia. Get some contest rules going and let's present it to Admin. I can shoot in my area: I can cover the Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico without any problem. That keeps me safe from Lucia, I think. Maybe.

Let's get some other photographers signed on and them models can know which areas the contest covers before they join.

Judging criteria. Hmmm.

You know, I am not a fan of member based judging for all contests. Sweet as a popularity gauge by members, but almost essentially valueless as far as choosing a winner that the industry can align with.

And what else are models here for except to get noticed by the industry. On a site with better than 100,000 members, judging by people versed in the industry will result in picking a winner that is not only recognizable by jurgita . com as a winner, but can also garner the notice of industry professionals.

Models need to step up to the plate for this competition. I would like to see a content that not just shows off a pretty face, but also explores the depth and range of the model in setting mood, interpreting audiences and providing a tempting insight into their work and ability to attract viewers. Models support advertising and promotion. Even in the glamour industry. Models must attract viewers and a contest to be worth while should be about choosing a winner that will help a product line attract customers.

As I see it, most models here do not yet know how to do this. The contest can act as a training ground, with first stages critical review that sends the model back to improve and then show their improved work. Held in stages, the industry professionals judging the contest can review, criticize, applaud in several preliminary rounds before moving onto elimination. We make our own style of Top Model show where participants are vetted, eliminated or encouraged.

Will there be hard feelings on the part of those cut? Maybe. But even those cut will gain exposure. The contest needs to be held faster than in past competitions. No more than a week between stages. This will force models to pay attention, spend time on their profession, make them show they have the dedication it takes to model professionally. Professional shoots are always done under time pressure and constraints. A model who cannot respond continuously to that pressure is bound to fail. Do we have models here that can rise to the occasion of a fast paced contest? A contest that makes it worthwhile for a photographer to offer his/her time as a prize?

And to spice things up, the contest should be covered in a journalistic manner. On the spot reporting in the Articles section of the progress of the contest, the weeks stars, the week's duds. The feelings and sentiments of the models, the struggles they go through to improve and create a better shot. Their day-to-day lives while between shoots. We pull the human interest element and generate increased interest that way.

Does this idea grab anyone's fancy? If so, then we need to plan the course of the contest, et the guidelines, choose the judges and get the show on the road.

Is not a bad idea...is it? Considering it's almost end of year and we cant meet the deadlines of end of the year competition. We might as well try some thing like Jurgitas' top model. In which it wont be just a simple contest rather something professional

Where we have a jury...
Judging criterias are defined
we will go thru an elimination process
Updates of the competition ..in the even blurbs and articles
etc

However, on the realistic landslide modeling scope, I think this is rather short notice for a Professional Event, with all the detailed trimmings on a total pkg. w/ award system.
If you're talking in terms of b4 year's end, coutured culture club, line distribution 'n' scrunch agenda.
Wrong time of year to impose more pressure on participants, who will be traveling to see family & friends & 'wrapping' up end of the year Calendar Shots & Magazine Shoots,
Sporting/Hosting Party Festivities, etc.
Better Chance to Recruit Models from Status ranking such as:
Semi-Pro & Amateur, maybe they might be fortunate enough to spare the extra time from their busy schedules.

On the small scale contest:.
I was trying to get a Contest started for young children, between the ages of 3-6 yrs. old. Parents were willing...for an Autumn Contest, but no support=No Contest...
COME ON PEOPLE, this isn't just about girly shots...
How many Contestants are you willing to permit entrance?
VERY TIME CONSUMING...Consider...2B 2Extensive...Perhaps, after the New Year the LARGE Scale Contest Promo would be better for the prep work to be finalized for smoother impact.

Well I get ur point but as I said in one of posts above we cant make it for the end year...personally am going for a short vacation n by the look of things I may not be back till next year. Considering no laptops while on vacation.:D..n many more pple are getting busy day by day

I was just hoping that the matters could be discussed n mayb have th carpets laid ready for next year......call it..beginning the new year in style;)

I can shoot Bermuda, but it is really a moot point as there are no active BDA models on here. Unfortunately its 600 miles to the nearest land, so I cant cover any other area either.
