Britney Spears really drives me up the wall. I believe all she wants is
publicity. Imagine how her childs going to feel finding out all these things
about their mum when they are older.
I am not so certain about that. It is hard to know what is in anyone's mind,
particularly someone you know only through the media. But my observations of
Britney show a young lady who was abused by exploitive parents and denied a
normal childhood because she had talent and appeal.
Granted, she should have worn panties, but a lot of women like to 'air it out'
once in a while.
Psychological effect?
Let us pretend it is you. You wake up one morning to find your vagina all over
the internet. Can you imagine the gut punch? Can you imagine utter, severe
feeling of shame and embarrassment? Of wanting to hide under the covers and stay
there forever, never wanting to show your face again?
But you cannot hide. So you suck it up, put on the "it doesn't matter" face and
head back out in public again because you have to. But the moment you step
outside your door, dozens of photographers are flashing at you. The same
situation you had last night and every night. Not a moments privacy. Not a
moment to be normal. Not a moment to be you.
You try and go out and have fun like normal people. To let loose. To relieve
stress. But unlike normal people, everything you do is magnified into scandal.
We all like to get drunk or cut loose or do some foolishness every once in a
while. As a celebrity, doing the same thing that millions of others do becomes
"shocking".
Most people cannot imagine the pressure of being in the limelight. The pushing
from family and promoters. The total absence of any sense of normalcy.
And when you cannot take having to be careful, to be fake for the public
anymore, you snap. You break down. And then that is news too and you get even
less privacy.
Celebrity is hard enough for people who make an adult decision to choose that
life to pursue the profession. It is ten times harder for a person who rises to
celebrity as a child. Many times they did not choose that life for themselves
but were pushed into it by parents. Can you imagine not having your high school
years? Can you imagine not being able to make any of the mistakes that teens are
apt to make?
And skin. Everyone wants to see skin. You go skimpy on purpose because that
pulls in fans. And like every other women on the planet, clothing slips or is
too baggy. Any man can tell you how often we see normal women on the street who
accidentally expose a nipple or too much buttocks during the course of a day.
These fleeting glimpses are all we get and 99% of the time the female never even
knows she was exposed. It happens to everyone. But for a celebrity, cameras are
snapping all the time. That brief fraction of a second of exposure is recorded
and spread around the world. You didn't expose yourself on purpose. You didn't
give anyone permission to be viewing your body. But suddenly it is out there.
How many of you can live through something like that without it changing you
even a little inside. Put this pressure daily. And put on top of it everyone
posting their opinion about you. You get to hear constantly who likes you and
doesn't like you. We consider it very rude to talk about someone's foibles or
failings or to form snap decisions about someone or something we did. Yet it is
perfectly alright to do this to celebrities.
I believe to a certain extent we need to take a look at ourselves and realize
that in castigating celebrities we are actually making personal observations
about our own dark, crass and cruel side. Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should |

Frankly, I suspect the real embarrassment for her was not the bare pubes--
there's always a kind of naughty thrill out of flashing people, or so I've been

thickness of her waist, the shortness of the musical set and of her skirts. She
may never be able to recover from having two babies in such short order. The
surgeries may have permanently weakened her abdominal muscles.
