please can you confirm whether 'orangemodels' are a safe and legit agency? :s
(a very informative forum!)

Roanna:
Admin seems to be assessing that as we speak! Although I think that with all of this attention Orange is going to be on their P's and Q's about everything. At the moment they are unverified.

As soon as I get some call backs from England I will let you know what I find out. Whether or not they meet Admin's welcome tougher criteria as stated in the post before, I cannot say. I am certain Admin will let us know as soon as they know anything.

I do find it unfortunate that the company in question chose to imitate the name of a legitimate Canadian agency. Really there is no cause for that, especially using the name of a fruit of color which is not implicitly by its name commonly associated as a modeling term. Capitalizing on the name of another established agency is creating some confusion among people on the ground I have talked to. They keep referencing me to the Canada agency. Very, very not good and makes me wonder if this Orange has not benefited from people signing, thinking they were the big Orange. :( I am slightly not happy about this.

In the meantime, just exercise caution. I already asked people before not to submit Emails until this was clarified. I stand by that statement. Better safe than sorry. You can always submit after this Orange has been checked out.

Karl, please see my email on this...

Phew! Finally the so called Orange Models deleted their profile huh!

I guess that shows they had alot behind the scenes after-all!
:muscle:

Thats not our task. You must find out yourself if they are appropriate or not. This site only informs you that there is such agency/scout/photographer or anyone else who has added their profile. It is impossible to call each member or to contact local legal institutions and find out if they have license or not. Thats not our task. We inform and do basic checking. Looks like this time basic checking has scared enough to delete the profile, but im sure the same "agency" has registered in other modeling sites and will continue "working".

waw..., very intense discussion but its good this things are being discussed on jurgita... so everyone can see:thumbup:

Thank you for the response.... sorry, I understand it is not your task, I was just confused about the outcome of this whole forum. I do not judge and they could be an honest and legit agency (for all I know) it was just a query from the result of this particular conversation.

However I do think it is important to advise one another, young people in particular, as they can be very naive.

Thanks again

Roanna

Many are relieved/pleased that they have deleted their profile. Let's just say that there was a lot going on behind the scenes that most members were not aware of... Unfortunately, they will probably find a place on another website out there. That's prettty much the end of that!

Open discussion and questions are never bad in my opinion. To the contrary, it can be enlightening. I do get a bit upset when good people with good intentions phrase their concerns in such a manner that it impunes the integrity of the person or organization in question. I think we all need to be careful of this. As Agnieszka said: "In her place, how would you feel?"

General Patton also made reference to "a poor application of a good idea".

Has it only been Emily harmed by this issue or has the site as a whole suffered?

Scam agencies are a problem everyone has to contend with. So are poorly managed agencies or agencies that deal with legal markets on the fringes of public morality. An agency that operates in a manner contrary to what we believe does not define that agency as a scam. Neither does it necessary identify that agency as doing something illegal.

With every single agency that a model applies to, that model truly has to determine for his or her self whether or not that agency represents a market the model wants to get into. Additionally, all models set their own limits. Every model also has a choice of what jobs are taken and what jobs are refused. No agency can legally display your image without your permission. No agency can force you to book jobs you do not want. You should go into every job eyes open. And you should apply to any agency with eyes just as open.

I would prefer that posters ask questions rather than make outright accusations. As a common legal tactic that I use when questioning at the legislature, I will pose accusatory questions to place the witness on the defensive if I have already determined to take a posture against the witness. So, when I see things phrased in such a manner in forums, I immediately assume that the posts are not seeking information but rather making condemning accusations.

I might get torn apart by other posters from time to time for taking a neutral stance but I firmly believe in the premise of innocent until proven guilty. So far, the only three things I have been able to determine is that 1) the agency represents girls in a legal manner but one that is not morally acceptable to most of us; 2) the agency conducts its business in an apparently sloppy and closed manner. This was enough for me to advise holding off on sending portfolio pictures until certain things were clarified.

Are we to the point where we want to ask Jurgita to set rules as to what type of model agencies can be represented on the site? What about models who want to obtain jobs that an agency like Emily's appears to provide? There is such a thing as a teen glamor industry and it is not illegal. Reprehensible to a lot of people, but not illegal. And what happens when a big established agency provides a teen model for a glamor shoot? Will it be "good riddance" to an agency like Ford?

My training is to research and provide information, not to judge or jump to conclusions on instinct. I have seen instinct be deadly wrong before, literally, and taking the time to gather concise, neutral and informed information before making a decision or even condemning is only prudent.

I am hoping that all members of this site exercise common sense, decorum and discretion in dealing with matters like this in the future. If something smells too fishy and warrants further scrutiny, always use the "Contact Us" link to report it to the administration who, as it turns out, are the only ones empowered to ban wrong-doers from the site. But if we chat, chat, chat without informing, all it does is smear Jurgita's good name and allow the unscrupulous that much more time to operate.

Lets hope that anyone who will make a research about this agency will find this topic.
Once more lets inform that this concerns only the orange models that have website http://orangemodels.hl.to/ managed by Emily.
We do not apply any information about other modeling agencies that are also called Orange models and have different websites.

I think it would be a good thing to post some guidelines HOW to check validity of agency for new models/talents and their parents. And this discussion covers some of them. More ideas are welcome, perhaps we post it later as separate article.
