Normally u get a new mail icon wen it's a friend request or someone send u flowers/kisses..so probably it's either of that...

Are you using tabs on your browser? When a new mail comes in, it puts a notification on every page you have open. When you check your mail, the mail notification on the other pages will not go away. Those pages are already in your computer cache, not on Jurgita, and the mail notice will not clear unless you refresh the page. As more mails come in, the number of mails listed on the open pages will rise

I suspect that you are looking at mail notifications on old pages.
