I may be biased, but I can't recall anyone else ever giving a whole new meaning
to the phrase "wearing jeans" the way you do. You actually make
jeans glamorous atire. I think you rocked everyone like a hurricane!!!
Rock You

COURTNEY...It was fun participating in the contest. I am trying to get my
friends to sign on to jurgita. Hopefully, they will come around. What did you
decide to do, if I may ask? Upgrade or get a photoshoot done? |

ID: 178685 Posts: 90 | Date: 2008-02-03 11:40 Well that's a tricky one Vern because my dad is my photographer !! so I can get
photo shoots from him at anytime and he also bought me VIP status for Xmas so I
think Im gonna give him the upgrade as he too is a jurgita member. If you look
into his profile he's under PHOTOS NI profile number199784. You
will see a few other pictures in there of me but he also loves taking close ups
of flowers, insects and scenery photos. Now he can add more onto his port once
he gets the upgrade.
It'll be great if your friends join up and get involved in the forums and add a
bit more competition to the contests..the more the merrier.
Do you live in Virgin Islands?? My family and I are hoping to head that way in
August and see the place and meet up with Karl Callwood from
Carib Goodies ..it'll be really great to meet up with
you and your friends too!! Looking forward to those sunny beaches and hot days
and hopefully stunning sunsets with a few photo shoots in between!! Oh yeah !!

forum.
This posting is for discussing the Jurgita jean contest and congratulating the
winners. Also, I find it disturbing that no one, especially the
other contestants, has had the class to come out and congratulate the specific
winners by name. It's all been very generalized. Just some advice to the
participants that didn't win the contest. Humble yourselves and acknowledge the
individual who won the competition. If you plan on staying in this business for
any length of time, you will find that developing a reputation as a gratious
winner and humble loser will gain you imeasurable respect amoung your pears and
associates. Voters admire humility in a loser. It makes them real and the voters
will remember that the next time around. On the other hand, they hate arrogance.
They will remember that also. Once again, congratulations to Mystique, runners
up Courtney and Lucia, also Vern, Reily, and all the other contestants
involved.
once upon a time.

You see, the lack of name calling gives me the chance to be the first person
other than yourselves to say: Congratulations Mystique Eyed Phoenix IonU for
your well engineered win! Yours was not just a victory, but a massive
blowout.
Skill and finesse won the day for this competition. For once a pair (of jeans)
beat a straight.
We often hearing the phrase that those who do not know history are doomed to
repeat it. Well, Mystique, you and I know history. You are not alone in your
travails regarding no one congratulating you by name. Mayor Daly in Chicago
often had that problem and had to step forward first to trumpet his own victory.
Yes, a winner is often a do-it-yourselfer.
You deserved to be crowned, Mystique. In my many years of politics, seldom have
I seen a campaign run with such efficiency, with such confidence, and with such
surety. Churchhill Downs seldom sees such a breakaway down the stretch. There is
nothing like an injection of steroids to boost a horse down the track. Likewise,
your presence inspired new memberships to egg you ultimately towards victory.
I was watching the Super Bowl last night and a commentator said: When you are
successful, they call it experience. When you fail, they call you old. You,
Mystique, have experience...and it shows.
Dominic...Mystique is an old pro. She can sit on her laurels without begging for
attention or shouting victory for herself. That is called class. She has not
even made her victory speech yet, walked down the aisle and mingled with people,
shaking their hands and accepting their personal, face to face congratulations.
But then again, I can understand her charmed silence for we already know who the
true winners are.
Rather than having bad manners, perhaps the prior posters merely wished not to
be redundant? I am certain you of all people can understand how tiring
redundancy can be, right Dominic? You and I have been around long enough to know
to give the youth their space, to let them make their own mark on the world
without interference from us. Perhaps some guidance once in a while, but most
definitely we don't go playing in their yards or stealing their things. We let
them make their own path, their own world, fairly and squarely without
interference from us.
In that vein, I think it only good manners that Mystique too come forward and
name and congratulate her nearest opponents. With 27 more years of life than her
runner-up, Mystique should have spoken by now and used her many years of age and
experience to rain praise upon her closest rivals for a battle well fought. As
she has not yet deigned to make her victory speech, I shall risk being labeled
as bad mannered by being the first to recognize and salute by name the runners
up as well.
Courtney, holder of the Perfect Girl title, ever gracious, chose to pay respect
not just to a new comer to Jurgita and our competitions, but also gave a shout
out to the most important people in any race...the voters. She remembered the
people. My hat is off to Courtney, second place finisher and the person with a
very important role. As in any competition, should the winner not be able to
perform the duties of the crown, the 1st Runner Up is groomed to take over. With
Courtney talking to the grass roots, Mystique can have confidence that the Miss
Jeans title will be alive and well.
And how special is Lucia's 2nd Runner Up position? Lucia whom we have watched
grow and mature into a queen since her entrance into Jurgita. Lucia who
literally survived almost insurmountable odds to enter this competition. Lucia
who can now go to her fellow country men and show them that despite the turmoil,
the world still loves and respects the Kenyan people and what they bring to the
world stage. I give Lucia a standing ovation with hats off for her top three
finish!
*******
With the platitudes out of the way, I must take umbrage, Dominique with your
uncalled for and uninformed scolding of Courtney for discussing in this forum
her plans to come to the Virgin Islands. As I understood the rules of the
contest the winners get trade shoots and they must chose and announce a
photographer for the shoot. This photographer in turn gets a prize of an
Upgraded membership. Platinum for the winner, and gold and silver respectively.
She chose her father, a photographer in his own right, to do the shoot. She also
stated a location for the shoot. She never mentioned "vacation". You did.
Courtney will be experiencing her first international shoot in the Virgin
Islands and will be networking in person with other Jurgita members as well. You
should be happy for her, not chastising her. We should be holding her out as an
example of an exemplary model who has the full support and presence of her
family in her pursuit of a career. Family first. It takes a village.
Plus, if you have not heard...the Virgin Islands is the place to be this fall.
Photographers and models from across Jurgita will be in the Virgin Islands to
witness Vern's brain child "V.I. Fashion Week - Caribbean Catwalk '08". Models,
photographers and designers will descend on the Territory, as they did last
fall, for a week long excursion into the tropical world of fashion.
Do not begrudge Courtney her chance to see the advance preparation of a major
event. Do not chastise her for taking advantage of her time when not shooting
with me to avail herself of a hard won TFP shoot in the tropics.
Jealousy does not become you, Dominic.
*****
To all who entered the contest...well fought! A model does not gain experience
and exposure by hiding behind their portfolio. A model has to risk it all, put
their talent on the line, show the world what they have and
compete!
To all the models brave enough to compete, I salute you and look forward to
seeing you again in future competitions. You are truly taking your careers into
your own hands. Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should |

winner got 75% more points that the next nearest competitor. I looked at all the
images and I guess that voting must be a very subjective thing, but I can't for
the life of me understand why that image won. It was out of focus and the
highlights were blown out for a start. |

DON'T Be Hissy, cause I had PRO & Business contacts.
Don't give me no lines & keep your jealous petty thoughts to yourself!
The shot was clear,
but wasn't as much in the scan, b4 upload--Sorry!
Is it any wonder competition does not bring out the BEST in people...
First of all, I'm not jealous, I wasn't involved in the competition other than
studying the images and voting for the ones that I thought were the best. Thanks
for agreeing with me that the image wasn't as clear as it should have been.
Thanks also for explaining how you got so many votes. How naive of me to assume
that the voting was going to be based on the quality of the image. I've not been
in the industry enough to experience the influence of contacts. I feel sorry for
all those models that went out there and bought jeans paid for a MUA and togs to
take their images. They never had a chance to win. Like you say you didn't even
have to call all your contacts, half of them was enough to win the competition.
I guess that's what happens when there are financial gains to be made.
Congratulations on having such a big fan base.
Now that we know how the system works I think that the next one may be less well
attended.
"Is it any wonder competition does not bring out the BEST in people..." couldn't
agree more. |

Mike's comments and wish to add a few of my own.
Mike, have you realised that Andromeda, Mystique , Tekhanei and Dominic are all
the same person ...and they are all moderators. How many more profiles do they
have between themselves ? Most competitions do not allow the
staff/administrators/moderators to enter the competitions to prevent this sort
of thing from happening.
But it was allowed in this situation.
So yes , there are many unanswered questions.
But anyway I am pleased with Courtney's showing in this competition and we had a
lot of fun. GET UP AND GO -
THE EARLIER THE BETTER |
