Photoshop Tools

Here's an image by Stephen Huckerby that I've been discussing. Here's the original taken from his profile:
If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try!

Now, here's an adjustment using the tools available in Photoshop CS3. This was mostly in Curves, but could have been done with Levels and the shadow/highlight tool. It is a quick and dirty fix, but many things can done, including lassoing the face and even giving it a halo. I also used an amber photo filter to provide a semi-toned look.

Of course everything is subjective and this is only a suggestion:
If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try!

the photoshopped version looks much more like a etching than a photograph. It must the the high contrasts. Though I admit the original's figure is too dark and is difficult to see the details.

I like the painting effect.
