know how model worked. I heard that this photos test in other county's agency's
for models is for free, but in my country I don't head that. It's truth, I don't
knew. What can you say about photo test? Do you , photographer, take pictures
for free? |

Let me see if I can translate your english into English correctly. Perhaps for
future reference and ease of understanding...write your statement in English
first and then again in Lithuanian underneath. Perhaps then a computer
translation might help our comprehension.
I think you are asking: Are model agency test shots supposed to
be free or can they charge for them?
Laws are different in different countries as to what an agency is or is not
allowed to do. Some countries allow agencies to charge and some do not. In the
United States, the laws even differ state to state. Some states will let an
agency charge and some will not.
Industry standards are more consistent internationally than laws are. Most
reputable agencies will not charge a model for a test shoot as
a matter or practice. However, they can, will and do mostly
charge a model if a model wants copies of the images.
This is a big difference than charging for a test.
The test is for the agency's own use in deciding whether or not you are of
representable quality and also for promoting you. You should never, never ever
pay an agency to do a test.
If you want copies for yourself or your portfolio use (and a portfolio is a
method of promoting yourself outside of agency control) then you probably will
be charged for those images.
When an agency arranges a test...and they can be as long as four or five hours
or even a day...the agency spends a lot of money. Studio time. Photographer.
Hair dresser. Make Up Artist. Chaperon. Assistants. Equipment.
Time. If you want some of those images for yourself, the agency
should have a right to recoup some of its investment, most especially if the
test shows a model is not worth representing.
As to your second question: Every photographer takes pictures for free, no
matter how professional they are. Some do not have the time to do so very often,
but doing trade work is perhaps the equivalent in the photography business to a
lawyer doing pro bono work (taking cases for charity). Like anyone else, a
photographer does not wish to be exploited by every model wannabee that comes
along. So, the more advanced a photographer is, the more choosy he becomes about
who he selects to shoot for free.
I do not know of many photographers who would shoot for a model agency for free.
Therefore, when an agency calls you in for a test, they are incurring a cost. As
stated above, most reputable agencies will not pass the cost of
this test along to you. Anything you want for yourself might have a price tag on
it, though.
I hope I interpreted your question right.
The other thing you might want to do is familiarize yourself with the laws of
your country regarding model agencies. Your country's laws are on-line or you
can be old fashioned and go down to your local library and pull down a few law
books. Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should |

for free rather not. It is alaways a matter of agreement, and what do you mean
for free. I don't charge for photoshoots but I do them on a Time for Photo or
Time for CD basis (you can find a whole article about it here http://www.jurgita.com/articles-id2161.html )
There is no money involved but there is a trade.
I hope this answers your questions |
