have done. Most folks here browse the new topics.
You are very petite. You are in Alaska, which takes you away from most markets.
You don't have professional level photos.
Look for a local shooter, perhaps a news photographer, or a student interested
in photography to shoot better images. Do stuff that shows off the local
scenery. Perhaps someone will want to come to Alaska to shoot.
Good luck.If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try! |

immediate area ..Good luck. I plan vacations and then do like 5 shoots while I
am there. Maybe you need to visit the beach too? Lol

You should smile and show your teeth a little bit, I think. Successful. |

pay anyone just find someone who is starting out as a photog that is looking for
someone willing to model for free.
I'm not sure I agree about the local scenery suggestion though. For me, model
shots are about the model. If the scenery becomes too interesting then it takes
attention away from the model who is the subject of the image. Sure it is nice
to set the scene but be careful that the scenery does not start to dominate the
image. Also make sure that the image does not start to look like a snapshot of
someone on holiday.
I don't think that you are doing too much wrong. I like your face, you have a
look that could be very versatile. What I mean by that is that you will be able
to a lot of different styles. Clients and photographers love versatility. Some
models are naturally beautiful and they can only take beautiful images, they
look out of place trying to look moody or angry. You have a face that can look
beautiful when you want it to be, but also serious and moody.
So we've established that you have passed the looks category. What you need to
do now is start to learn to model. There are a lot of books available about the
skill of modeling, search Amazon and order a couple. They are about $20 each. A
worth while investment. Start looking in fashion magazines at the poses that
catch your eye. Try to copy the image with your photographer, Keep retrying
until it looks right. And then understand what you had to do differently to get
it to work. There is a lot to learn, the more you practice and the more you
analyse your images with a critical eye the quicker you will improve and the
sooner you'll know whether it is a career that you want to pursue.

| Date: 2008-03-13 09:34 I see no reason you would not get jobs your are very attractive. But location is
important. Most photogs will not pay travel unless they know what they will get.
So you are stuck with local jobs. That may not be a bad thing so don't be
discouraged about that.
And as mentioned, find a new photog and trade tome for prints ( TFP ) you should
be able to find someone. Im in the middle of finding models this way. Im back in
photo after 10 years of beign out of it. And as I have no paid jobs at the
moment I need models to trade so I can rebuild my Portfolio. Im sure you will be
able to find the same situation there where you are. Dont be afraid to ask. If
they are like me they allways have a bunch of images in there head they want to
capture, and if you offer you may get the job. Sure you dont get paid, but you
dont have to pay them either.
As far as what you should show..... versatility. Even if it is with one of your
girlfriends taking the pics, put on a party dress and take some shots, then a
formal outfit, then something sexy, then sporty, then casual, and of you want to
do lingere do some of that as well. I would not suggest doing a nude even if you
offer that. A good headshot is a good idea as well. Post the best one of each
outfit, you dont need 7 of the same series, 1 each is fine.
Also ask a friend what your best feature is. Explain to them you need the truth.
DONT get mad if they dont think the same as you. Then pose so it is emphasized. |
