Acting most definitely. There are people still acting even into their 70's.

Modeling is a different matter, most models are approaching the end of their modeling career as they move into their 30's. There is still a need for mature models, especially for product adversing. But for glamour, fashion and runway it is probably too late.

for Acting yes, many famous actors and actresses are ove 30 see Angelina Jolie she'll be 33 this year and still acts in major films

Thats the great thing about this industry in that it does not discriminate upon age. All print jobs, billboards, TV shows, movies, etc., need people of all colors, shapes, sizes, and yes, ages as well.

My answer is simply yes on both accounts.

umm.. and what about experience?? for modeling, and especially for acting its not just enough to be beautiful - because there is lot of beautiful people lol

usually models around 30 are well equiped with knowledge and when professionals uncovers lack of it it could be quite unpleasant.

modeling is not just putting photo on the web and waiting for call or lottery. modeling is just a destination, an epiloque of your work and presence before :)

They are not under 30 now. But all started their careers in the teens and early 20's and were famous before they reached 30.

Beckinsale - Appeared in first film at age 18. First successful film Pearl Harbour aged 28.

Paltrow - Stage debut aged 18. First successful film Se7en aged 25.

Jolie - Started as a fashion model aged 14. Aged 16 first theatre role. First film aged 18. First successful film George Wallace (Emmy award) aged 22.

Gong Li - Debut film aged 22 (Red Sorghum). Oscar nominated at age 26 in Raise the Red Lantern.

It could be argued that they were/are getting jobs into their 30's, because they were/are already famous. Films generally need to include a couple of big name stars in order to appeal to the masses. They are not necessarily been recruited entirely on their current looks.

Do you have any examples of famous models/actresses that started their careers after their 20's.

fact is that acting is not easy. any kind of modeling or acting process is not easy with less experineced models - even shooting a picture with amateur can be a true pain for stuff and producers so you could shoot movie with amateur actors for years and do nothing. And im not so sure that any film company, producers and directors have time to play around.

Experience is incredibly important issue to film something. That is why actors get in motion lately after true studies and situations how to role, how to tell something in film, how to move, where to watch and so on. Directors have no time to explain those things.

I guess it is possible to get into (serious) acting around 30 but only with great talent, fast learning and crazy wish to achieve a great acting.

But if youre really interested how that works, and youre free at late summer 2009. you just might find it out ;)

Kidman - Music Video Aged 15, TV series Aged 16 (5 mile creek), Breakthrough film age 22 in Dead Calm

Basinger - started modeling at age 16, Achieved top model status at 20 ($1,000/day in 1973). Cover girl from age 18-23. Appeared in Charlies angels age 23. Became a Bond Girl at age 30.

Loren- First Film Quo Vardis (1951) aged 17. Hollywood fame at age 23.

Lollobrigida - 3rd in Miss Italy contest and model at age 20. Followed by Italian films. Starts US films aged 26

Hepburn - Dancer age 21. First film age 21. First motion picture One Wild Oat age 22. Became famous in broadway play Gigi (age 22). Roman Holiday (Age 24)

It depends on ones look. Take tyra bank for example, do you think she can model even if she is 40, pocsitively becuase she is just too professional and has the look .

Many A list models are well over 30 now, others Bundchen/Lima etc are very close

For fashion models, you need to have extremaly good portfolio at this age, or go for niche jobs. Most of the topmodels get jobs becouse of their fame, their portfolios and experience.
Comercial/livestyle model is not age-limited. Also, many things depend on your determination. I have seen cases here which led me to believe that everyone can become model if has a will.

They're many good actresses and models out there over 30. Some start well before that age, but they're still out there.
