Hi Jurgita people!
Just to let you know I joined MySpace and am finding it great so far for networking. I joined only two weeks ago and have already had >500 views. If you are on MySpace, please check me out, I'm under 'lolo_ray'.

Meanwhile, if there are any Irish people out there who would like to work with me, please contact me.

Thanks,
Lolo.
:dunno:

Hey LOLo

if i might show some criticism here, your images are quite nice, but portfolio looks more like photographers one inestad of models one. Pictures are full of postproduction with very low lightning and figure is impossible to see what is very important for scouts.

Not saying that those are bad, but model is almoust impossible to see clearly and fully. :shh:

Hmmm, Joe. Gonna take your "scout card" away from you. Don't you recognize a pro level sales pitch when you see one?
:cantlook: Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should

i think it's easier to get a job related to modeling on a website dedicated to modeling :dunno: well, at least when people visit this website they are looking for models, photographers, agencies, etc. and while visiting model's page on myspace people usually think 'nice chick', or 'wow a model, let's check out if she got some nasty pictures'. so the >500 views may be not related to modeling offers at all. just my 2cents.

I agree with Vylune, they re probably people who are your friends or intrested in you
Sorry
Kimberley :)

Haha! Yeah my friend but scouts are not looking for model's images but for models :)

If portfolio covers important facts about certain model, its like we saw nothing. well at least in my case ;) palaroids i might find muuuch more appropriate

fyi: recently i work alot in video industry and i can tell you stories about bad lightning so beware LOL ;)

Good catch, Joe. I see you understand exactly what is being pitched. Want to join me for a quick tax deductible working vacation in Ireland? Bring your video camera and proper lighting!

I have not checked her My Space page because I certainly am not interested in the pitch. Changing focus slightly, I tend to abhor having to go over to a My Space link that some models love to use as their home page. Absolutely no relevance to my recruiting efforts and usually full of a ton of junk to wade through. Quite unprofessional.

And Vylune's point: Quantity definitely does not equate to quality.

A model should understand that bouncing your viewers all over the web is not a great way to capture attention. If your initial pitch fails, referring people left right and center is not going to increase your chances. Having portfolios on multiple modeling sites is fine since a model wants to target as broad a scouting audience as possible, but each of those portfolios should be able to capture interest and stand on their own.

How is "finding it great so far" defined? Do hits translate into jobs or subscriptions? Or do hits translate into waste-of-time gawkers? When you can eat hits or buy a home with hits, then I will sit up and notice.

I would say that the time spent hypnotized by My Space would be better spent doing things that enhance a modeling career.

i'll echo that.
for sure, there are lots of visitors, mostly invisible visitors that can go into your profile on sites like those.
jurgita is more restricted so to speak. if you have a complaint here at jurgita, it's not difficult to trace the abuser. but for the other site you mentioned and the most popular, i'll refrain from naming it, you completely wide open.
hate that because you got mail from mostly cranks and lots of flamers, and even crude people who would dare send you filthy photos of themselves.
i'd stick to jurgita, if you're serious about modeling or photography,etc..:muscle:

and one last word of confidence: this far, i've yet to notice anything flaming or indecent within our jurgita network. i'm glad.
you provide the character, and i will take care of the rest to capture your persona.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies, although they all seemed negative!

To clarify; I am finding MySpace great for networking. I didn't join it as my personal page, and have no 'personal' pages on the internet anywhere. Only professional information is in the blogs. There are a lot of professional people on MySpace. (I agree however, that the majority of my 'friends' on MySpace will never work with me). I agree with Carib Goodies (although I nearly always do!) that a model's homepage should not double as a personal page.

I agree that the amount of 'good' hits on MySpace will be proportionally much less than any hits on my profiles on modelling websites. However I am definitely networking with designers and others that I had not previously encountered on the other sites.

To Vylune: I have already worked with one designer that I found through MySpace. There are a few other TOGs/MUAs/designers/outlets who I am planning shoots with - solely through MySpace.
I haven't found Jurgita very useful in my time being here. I have worked with only one photographer who has contacted me through Jurgita.

I just thought I'd let you guys know that I am finding it useful, in case anyone else was wondering if it was any use. Personally I thought about it for about a year before deciding to give MySpace a chance. I find it is worth it and recommend it to anyone who wants to take it seriously.

Well Observed!

Ok my loud mouth is gonna say something! All good tho! ha ha!

Myspace wow well despite their clean up operation a year or two back it is still apparent
That anyone can have a Myspace and get many views! It still remains an unsafe place for
Ordinary users, minors or those wishing to gain from exposure there!

Great if you are doing well via Myspace Lolo! However as a generalisation from my experience and my own overview for what it is worth :doh:

Myspace is the place that computer nerds head for unfortunately and they hack and do their sad dodgy links there and such like! Wasting the time of those who think that they will benefit by many viewing their profiles!

Myspace seems to have become the place where 11yo girls (Example available) pretend to be 18 so they can have a proper Myspace and comment and be free to do as they please, knowing that myspace has a kind of automated moderating system as they are so big!

Consequently Myspace has around 50 or so genuine Hannah Montana’s
And many more examples of fakes who probably are quite dangerous to the genuine 11yos they are chatting with!

Myspace keeps having to be told by observers like ourselves of such problems, so they are definitely not
a major choice if specialising in a particular field such as Modeling! As stated before, more does not always mean better!

Not really so.

Well Im visiting myspace once in a month or two so first of all im not crazy or something with it. However myspace is far away from kids and little girls network in this case - I would rather say that facebook.com is a that if we talk freely.

Bunch of magazines, tvs, radio, clubs, photographers and impressive agents are nested on myspace. Not mentioning that FHM had a to 50 hottest girls from there on US edition and much much more impressive gains for one online community website.

Now we can chit-chat about bad things on websites like talking with girls and oldies behind cover, but myspace is crowdy and with some luck, you can meet someone you really would like to meet in business. I did.

Anyway for ambitious model is recommended to be everywhere - more crowdy the merrier.

From now on 50 activity points will turn into 1 credit, so you may earn credits as easy as never before !!!

All models and photographers are able to moderate photos! We will save a lot of time for moderators this way. Please read the short instruction on how to moderate and earn points very quickly.
Also, models and photographers can moderate part of the profiles as well! This is a fast way to earn some action points and credits!
