Many models are reluctant to purchase their own domain name becuase they feel it is not important. From a professional point of view, it is though a good idea to join as many modeling websites as possible to promote your talent; however, it is also important that models must have their own official websites where they have better control. You don't need to buy a very big space to have your website, now you can purchase your own domain name a and hosting only for $19.99 for whole one year, which is certainly not expensive. You will agree that having free sub-domains does not look very professional. Having your own paid domain also give you liberty what to add or what not add on your website. Moreove, you can run google and others advertisement, which is not possible on free hosting services. Adding such advertisements generate some revenue for you to cover your expense. You can book your domain and hosting now. Buying domain name and hosting from here means that you will be supporting modeling competition because the company agrees to sponsor and give 3% cash awards that will go to the winners.

If youre an established model i agree but it s no point if you re still tryin to get into da game

aha and whos gonna build the whole website lol? :D

If you know MSWord or Microsoft FrontPage, you can develop website yourself. Alternatively, someone can develop static website approximately for $100. Visit here to find price for static website.

Even if you are not even an established model, still it is in your advantage to have your own website.

I think that it could be good for a model, as well as photographers, even just starting out to have her own website. It demonstrates dedication in your work if you proudly have a place of your own to manage and post photos from shoots you have done. Also most sites, like this one, limit the number of photos you can post. Having your own site can allow you to post a large number of your photos.

In reference to what Joseph has stated about who will build and manage the website..
Yes i know that HTML can be extremely difficult and confusing to use, however there are mutliple things out there that you can use:

1) HTML books: Can be very helpful, but some are fairly expensive.
Example: HTML for dummies

2) The internet: Searching for HTML help through Google can be really helpful and not as costly as using a book. However, like with all HTML you really need to try out each code and make sure it has worked in the way you want it to.

3) Adobe Dreamweaver CS3: Has an HTML coding as well as a design feature. I've had a few issues with using the design portion - HTML coding being inserted in the wrong area- so you do need to know a little about HTML to correct these errors. Also the program in itself can be confusing if you don't know how to use it properly.
This program is also pretty expensive and runs around 200 american dollars i believe.

4) Jurgita Forum: I know that there are many people on here that do have there own websites or know a little about HTML. I know that I myself have a slight knowlegde and will be learning more in my university courses. Most of us if we're around would be happy to help with any questions anyone may have.

Another big issue with designing a website is the fact that it is really time consuming, but if you spend some time here and there on it eventually you will have somehting to be proud of.

Good Luck all!

Well... yes you should have your own domain name..I will tell you that I am going through the legal system right now because of this. If there is a potential for profit from your name--do it. It is only ten dollars -----despite what everyone is saying here. I buy domains often. Godaddy.com.. the best ten bucks you'll ever spend. You don't need your own website:

Cheri and Sheryl,
I know this is off topic but i just had to say how much i love the photo that you have as you're main photo! Keep working hard Cheri!

Good Luck
-Kimberly.

AAww thanks! I like it too.. It was so cold at the beach! UGH!

I have a thought though... camilla rein-- why are you trying to sell domains here in this forum and why don't you have a profile that can be verified?

You can not use this forum for your profits.
Karl-- can you check into this please?

Thanks,

Sheryl and Cheri'

I agree with Kimberly.

very well said Kimberley.. keep sharing your thoughts..Ü

To develop a simple but attractive website is not difficult. If you are using MS word just save it as webpage. Remember your first page must have name "index.htm" otherwise no one will be able to view your website.

If any one needs help for html coding, feel free to contact me.

I have my own website, I keep it updated regularly its just easier to divert people to it so they can see my best images. I am joined to all these model networking sites too, but try to keep the images different to what I post in these sites so photographers can see a bigger variety! People do contact me through my website regarding work too!!

My website didnt cost much to make, and its easy to update too, if anyone wants any info on the guy who designed my site for me send me a message! I do think it is a good idea to have your own site, Im not an established model, but I think having my own site has helped me get more work!
I have new pics on my profile...

From now on 50 activity points will turn into 1 credit, so you may earn credits as easy as never before !!!

All models and photographers are able to moderate photos! We will save a lot of time for moderators this way. Please read the short instruction on how to moderate and earn points very quickly.
Also, models and photographers can moderate part of the profiles as well! This is a fast way to earn some action points and credits!
