there are many great and talented male supermodels, but i think they are not as
famous as females. Why is that? or am i getting wrong impression?
i know there's huge demand for male models and some people even say that it's
easier for a guy to get into industry. but if you take a look at celebrities
photos on some magazine, you will see at least several female supermodels, not
male. |

males are more flexible...
Women are also more aesthetically pleasing too and have a much wider access to
various types of fashion... I mean... who shops more: men or women? Women of
course! So, who needs to model all the new fashions for the females who do the
most shopping? Women!!!
I think if men started to shop more often and developed a wider fashion sense
then men would become more popular as models.
At least... this is what I think. |

men do not appeal to men.
A female can draw an admiring audience from a majority of both sexes. A male
will never be able to do that. Males are generally to competitive of each other
to stay focused on a particular male. That would be granting concessions and
diminishing one's self.
Females are also more versatile in what they can do and get away with in
modeling. A woman wears a larger variety of clothing and has a larger variety of
non-durable possessions and "personal maintenance" materials.
Anything you can sell to a male you can sell to a female. The opposite is not
true.
Females have been selling to men since the dawn of the species as a survival
mechanism. Nothing has changed since then.
Just my opinion. Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should  |

billboards, etc, but i neither know their names nor i notice them on some gossip
pages (well, yeah i read those) or.... does my mind subconsciously skips
articles that say 'famous male supermodel X was noticed leaving club with...'?

there's somewhere in the region of at least 60% more female than male in the UK
and Germany.
Back when I was 18 a local agent approached me & I have to admit I just burst
out laughing, I said to her "me?...Nah! I ain't got the looks!" a lot of guys
wouldn't do modelling work even if you offered 10 times the pay! |

:P an offcourse fashion is more for women because we make more shoppings we are
more stylish and we care more how we look ..... but i think both models is

Well as a Generalisation I could say:
GIRLS ARE MORE DOERS & GUYS ARE MORE VIEWERS!

Seriously though:
I think as Gary said, there is still a bit of a stigma attached to Male
Modelling, at least here in the UK, and Guys are often put off modelling by what
their Friends think, which is a pity, but a reality.
Historically, as Santa noted, Women/Girls are more the shoppers 'Still' when it
comes to Fashion, so as a consequence, there will be More Female Models in Top
Modelling Positions and The Limelight than men.
I'm sure things are changing gradually, but what started as a Predominantly
Female area of work still remains mainly Female. |

No point in being all Politically correct about it! It's the truth and
that's how it was when Modelling started out!
Vylune mentions that Woman were mainly Housewives back then and asks why then
did they dominate the modelling World!
Opportunities for Woman were simply not around then, yet Woman could use their
looks to become something within Modelling and those business minded Females in
the early days made businesses and careers for themselves within the Industry
and have a true voice. |
