My grand girl Shannon--waiting to do her song at a recital

Selective focus 1, Canon 5D, 24-70 L @ 70mm. ISO 800, 1/80s @ f2.8
If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try!

Selective focus 2. Same data, except 1/60s exposure, zoom at 65mm.

A short DOF is fine; but in my opinion the eye must always be in focus, in a shot like this.

Ah, but the first shot has this misty softness and the second has that sharp far eye, Girl never stays still long enough for more than a grab.

Yes I like the softness of the first one too. I just think the eye has to be sharp. It can be very difficult to get everything right when the subject won't sit still.. :-)

im not alot into photographers focuses and stuff but those arrangements are great!

very nice photos! but with more lightning and quite warmer background those would be awesome.

very attractive work Mr. Griffin, congrats :)

Lovely pictures, and even though the eyes might be out of focus, the first one still steals your heart. Well done!
