What's your focus in modeling? Is it fashion, editorials/advertorials, runways,
commercial, acting etc?
You probably need to develop your folio to match your aspiration in your area of
interests. |

lol
well you got it all wrong Valentina. It has nothing to do with your country, but
style of your portfolio - and of you.
Your images - and your face i must admin - are very "hard/dark/scary" for open
public media (so you dont fit there). Publishing those kind of images in
open/country magazines can occur in significant loss of sale, bad feedback from
readers and public and so on. Very hard to explain. It is just a matter of
editorial politics in magazines nothing else.
You should find some cult magazines for your images and for much specific public
where your revealed body/aggression will be forthcoming - whats not the case in
country/family magazines - so called "nice" papers shortly.
Nothing to be bothered about anyway. Some faces/style cannot fit in cult
magazines and otherwise so i wouldnt worry about that.
Just keep asking around. If you want to avoid that feedback search for media
with much darker-naughtier editorial politics. |

ID: 181346 Posts: 109 | Date: 2008-05-16 23:50 btw I would use this opportunity to aware models (although I doubt that that
will happen lol) how much portfolio really is important for model's launch in
publishing industry - since we/publishers sell photos not actually models "live"
services on runway like e.g. fashion. what i wanna say is that in this case we
dont care much how model looks in front of our eyes but what is "saying" to us
via images exclusivly.
while we want to look great on photos, what is actually important is what those
photos "says" to audience. model is just an element like every other detail
arround on the image like simple lamp for example which "triggers" something in
eyes of public. joy, passion, smile, pain, sarrow.. whatever.
publishing is very important to get noticed around and its priceless, essential
for everyone who wants to achieve something. firstly you will probably work with
professionals and gain very important experience, and comments of audience. and
impressive comments about you are actually the key of your success - not just
simple online expectations with 2-3 images far away from reality.
if public loves you, every agency and scout will feel the same about you so dont
be lazy to try to impress your watchers with something.
i would recommend attractive models not to searh for agencies like crazy but to
konck on some respective publisher's doors with a simple request that you just
want to be taken and published. if editor decide to do it - maybe there is a
chance for exposure.
ps: good editor will never shoot bad model for any money in return, but it will
publish absolute amateur for free if he encounters possible exposure. worth of
trying. |

"wanted" models are those who have large breasts. Unfortunately, i'm not the
owner of big bust. So ........ this was the only question. |

Really? Funny. To what magazines you sent your inquiries if its not a secret?
Sorry Valentina but never heard for "big bust only" countries so far. Sounds
totaly idiotic if you ask me. |

These are good points for Valentina, yes because it could be that she
has been approaching the wrong type of places by the mention of their looking
for Larger Busted Models!
As stated by Orsiris, you need to decide on direction and target the
right sources for your chosen work aims! |

not famous.
Because bookers and clients prefer clean look and image, so thye can change

Oh hiya Alena! Yes my translation to Russian was probably poor though yes?
I see your point on the short hair as you say you cannot alter what is not
there!
So I imagine that Russian/Eastern european Agencies and work availability still
concentrates on more traditional feminine images with longer hair to mould yes? |

Oh! Let me
turn down the sound on my BS meter. Probably disturbing the neighbors and
all.
There, sound all turned down.
Hmmmm. Now I can smell the BS. Let me go get a clothes pin and some air
freshener.
So.....let me get this straight....your "photographer" submitted to "Maxim",
"VIP", "Ego", and "Vogue". These magazines (they are not
agencies as your post suggests) actually took the time to each tell the
photographer (who more than likely submitted them unsolicited, if he did) why
they rejected the photos.
Cough cough ahem ummm....COUGH!!!!
Ah...got that out of my system.
Now, you know...I believe this is the very first time in my long career that I
have seen "Vogue" in the same sentence as "Maxim", "VIP", and "Ego".
Yeah...that is sort of like three guys in hoodies at a back tie event.
Interestingly enough, I was going to suggest to you before reading the post
quoted above that your facial structure, hair color and figure are more suited
to the luxury market...the over 40 affluent crowd who are thinking spenders
rather than spontaneous spenders. The people who are still a major part of the
Vogue magazine crowd.
Now, the first three mags have once in a while been known to accept unsolicited
images. But those mags are geared towards guys who want to whack off but not get
caught with porn. They are in the glamor field and recieve so much unsolicited
images that the bulk of them are seen only by an army of minimum wage mail room
clerks whose sole skill set in life is to be able to open 60 envelopes a minute
without paper cuts. There is a 99% chance that your images, if submitted, were
never seen by an editor.
Vogue, I won't say anything about except this: If that tog had walk in access to
Vogue he would not have gone there with images of someone they would take no
interest in because of "breast size". Vogue is not a pin-up magazine.
You know...I have a book with submission guidelines for over 20,000 magazines.
Let me get back to you after I check the index to see if they have cross
referenced publications with "minimum breast size submission guidelines".
You know...Madonna did Playboy with A cups and natural brown hair way before she
was famous. Perhaps that was done before the advent of the eco-conscious concept
of 'catch and release'. "Nah...this breast is too small, throw it back, maybe it
will be larger next season."
Yes, there are girlie mags that have breast size, shape, aureole size, nipple
size, width, and length, coloration, perky factor, fatty tissue location, etc.
guidelines. For real, yes. (Sorry Joseph and Kim, but it is true.) Heck, Playboy
even had a belly button minimum/maximum distance from crotch rule. If a girl
looked good enough or was popular enough, Playboy would airbrush, retouch and
move their belly button into optimum eye candy position.
Now, Valentina...if you are looking to be signed by a big time agency...why are
you aiming for slots in the 'sticky pages' rags?
And do not let one fake arse photographer break your confidence in yourself and
your desire to find proper agencies, hump until you get a sit down meet, and let
them tell you to your face what they are looking for and why they cannot use
you. And remember...every single agency is different. They focus on different
clientèle, have their own model type(s) that they specialize in training and
promoting, and have their own rules on how they accept talent to promote. It
ain't over until the fat lady sings.
In the meantime, please read this article: WHAT TO DO IF
MODELING AGENCIES TURN YOU DOWN
PS: Alena's comments, albeit in Russian, are dead on accurate and something I
was going to comment to you about, but she beat me to it. Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should |

from fake GQ Magazine and similar scams, so the mention of major companies in a
