Hi everyone!! My name is Mandy and I have had practically no luck in starting my career... I thought maybe its because I am a plus.. But I think its about time to bring people like me into fashion! After all 60% or women are from sizes 12 and up!!

Advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

I hope you do well with your Modeling Aims! You photo well and have good proportion in size and shape, the height helps carry that well, if that makes sense :D

I think a good way in maybe to get to know some of the Wholesale Fashion houses who Specialise in Plus Size, some people start out part-time as Receptionist/Models in that way!

Britain's full of plus specialist agencies, most are always advertising for new models, some work international and may take you on without you needing to relocate in the UK.:D

Plus size models are definately in:thumbup:
Britain is probally the leader in plus models as we have got the most of them;)

So pleased you noted the links at the other forum and the one in message is something I particularly thought you should consider, I have actually posted it here earlier but I do not think the Plus Size side of the opportunity was noted, so GO FOR IT!

Re: The above comment, well being a UK Citizen and having an awareness of Plus Size Issues myself and a Parent who is into Design and Size Awareness also, I'm not sure if that fact that the UK being over weight in general is enough reason to say that there are more opportunities for those of larger size to be in Modelling! I know you did not say that as such Gary, but perhaps an offering of your modelling insights and opportunities seen would help? Current is cool!

I'm not sure that the Miss England girl qualifier is enough to show we are Size Aware and open minded to all forms of Modelling in this Modern Enlightened World! The Miss England contest has gone though a low patch and this year ironically they Promote 'BIG TIME' and put through a plus size qualifier regionally, I do so hope it is not just a Token' thing to gain popularity.

Plus size women are in, but the rest of America just needs to catch up! I am a plus sized model as well and it has been difficult trying to look for work that doesn't require extensive travel. Good luck with all of your pursuits!

For both the girls and the guys with a few extra pounds on, you can be models, but there's still a lot of places in the world where it's very hard to get anywhere trying to be a plus model:endecided:

One of the earlier posts on this topic says that america has a lot of catching up to do...
now that is true, not many agencies in the US deal with plus models compared with the UK, Holland or Spain, but a gap in the market can always be filled;)
