I also have a question...people often say u have to go out there and make it happen...jst how do u do that ? i have been trying but not getting anywhere so far !

Hmm..? I think it's well known that everybody here (registered as model) is looking for jobs. We should be talking about marketing plan instead of askin if anybody would wish to offer jobs. Saying it generally without any idea wouldn't help.. so here's one. Be in a group so that when the group is noted.. you're noted. Some of the models here is having their own portfolio site (my opinion is.. everybody should). You might want to pick a number of other models (who you'r comfortable with.. even online) to be in your group and start linking each other. The group should not be too big as each of you need to be special. Just idea.. picked from somewhere else.. :)


i think you guys should do what Rasid says it is easier to get notified that way, as UK mike also says forums mightnot get you job it onlylinks you with people that might be able to help.

Ok here is an example of self-promotion, the principle of which could be employed by Aspiring Models in their quest to be noticed!

Through my Fashion background and various business involvements over the years I have gained a wealth of salesmanship knowledge and observations of the human race!
There are a few main things that I remember day in and day out that are vital if I wish to be noticed:

[b]1/ People you are selling yourself to like to think that they are important and in-control!

2/ They want something that is different and often un-obtainable or hard to be obtained!

3/ They want to think that the idea has come about in their own mind lol![/b]

Using these principles you can adapt your method of approach to any sittuation and sell yourself in what I call a 'REVERSED PSYCHOLOGY' or some would say 'LATERAL THINKING'

Example:

I like my jewellery & everyone comments on it, that's cool! But if it doesn't get seen then it doesn't sell! So I sell via various means and consequently have to wait until those sales come in before I make more! Typically topping up shops on a regular basis.

If I stay at home and make my jewellery, it is a wasted opportunity as I could be making on the Beach where people can buy from me at the same time, this works yes, but not all like to buy at the Beach and it kinda cheapens me to do that!

So, I prepare where on the Beach I am going to sit, taking into account areas of greater traffic, then I find my un-assuming spot and lay out all I need to make! The curiosity of others seeing a guy making jewellery brings them over to talk, it draws people in and then in friendly converstaion I tell them that I make for Fashion Shops and Events etc, this begs the question:

"Would you sell your jewellery" or "How Much"

Now my reversed psychology is working (I am not selling they are buying), I have created an interest in something they want and do not think is attainable, So I say "Well I can let you have for the same I charge the shops, I guess"

This creates much interest and usually everything I have made just goes! It did not involve me even having to sell, the customer actually feels so good about getting something unique from this guy who makes jewellery and it is true yes, however, it had been my plan all along which is not noticed!

This is just one example and quite simplistic (Oh I have many others lol), but shows how by thinking something through and planning for a particular result can help you achieve it!

Nice story but how can a model self his or her self using that technique? Does it mean a girl that want to get noticed takes a walk 3 miles from her house to the beach wearing a swim suit or something crazy like that.

i like the consept, when it comes to sales of goods but i can quite pin it on personality sales if you know what i mean.

Well Oluwaseun did I mention a 3 mile walk to a beach? Did I mention that the Beach is their platform? I don't think so!

I am talking attitude of mind, I am a single parent and if I need money I must find my way to do it, not just say to everyone, how, how or limit myself by saying:
Well that is ok for products!
I am talking attitude of mind and finding a way to be seen!

In a work place a worker may purposely put themselves in a position where the boss notices them, they pretend that they are just working normally, but in reality they are working maybe above their normal standard right in front of the person they wish to impress!

You cannot dismiss Oluwaseun what is good marketing practise it is all life skills and CAN by applied to everyday aims and wishes!

Ok Away From Products - Offering a Service:

Ok Oluwaseun, away from products!

I also operate a 'Party Service' where kids and teens can make their own shell bracelets, now this is popular but hard to get seen, so if I get one person to start making their own with my guidance outside of my friends Cafe, passing moms and kids become interested, they get involved and as a consequence my friend sells more Cappuchinos & Pasta lol and I have created interest where each person is going to be there for 20 minutes or so creating more interest! If they cannot stay or get involved I pass my leaflets to them which outline the 'Party Plan' now further to that, they may think oh that is no good to me as I do not live in that region, so over-coming that obstacle I state on my leaflets that I can provide a 'Host your own Party kit' for those out of the area!

It is as I say life skills and over-coming objection in advance to get to where you want to be and do in life!

The modeling industry is very competitive and critical. For every person who will complement you there will be many more that will criticise you. What I am basically trying to say is that this is not a career for the self conscious and easily offended. Not only do you need good looks, but you also need a drive and self confidence to succeed, as well as a thick skin when it comes to criticism. If this does not sound like you then maybe modeling is not your thing. If you think you can handle it then you should start networking with other models here at jurgita and find out what life as a model is REALLY like.
