Is My Space A Web Site?

In the past when I moderate a profile, it never fails. I click on the website (like the rules say) and the myspace is set to private. Why would anyone list a website and not anyone look at it? I know there are personal things on there that you don't want the whole world to see. But if that is the case, then why bother to waste your time listing it? It's like "Look at me Jurgita members... I have a website. But you can't look at it" If you want a site to show off what you do, for the public, then get a site for the public listed here. Set up a seperate myspace without the personal stuff. Get a domain name. The word "professionalism" seems to just float around here from time to time.
And one more thing. If the site is private, do I accect the profile? Reject the profile because the site doesn't work? Or reject it because it wasted my time clicking on it?
I'm done venting.
" A word is worth a thousand pictures "

Most of the myspace content you need to have your own account to see, and even then the majority of users worldwide have their myspace accounts set so that only friends & contacts can access them, so it's useless to anyone on jurgita:doh:

It would be better for new members to open up a Flickr account & upload their pictures there, once the simple URL address is set up it can be entered into the jurgita profile as your official website link, provided the members Flickr photostream is set for public viewing everyone can see it, and you can use it for free:thumbup:

Myspace is a social networking website but can it be classed as a website linked to a jurgita account... if your content is not visible for all to see... no:thumbup:
And... I don't think myspace is suitable for modelling use or linking into anyones jurgita portfolio!

I am a photographer and I do use myspace as a website. I am just getting started and a lot of my shots are from cage fighting events that do display what I would call adult rated. So yes myspace is linked from jurgita and I do have it private so if anyone under 18 links to my site they have to ask for my permission as a friend before they can view it. Tell whats wrong with trying to keep the wrong eyes from seeing content that they shouldnt??

Nothing wrong with doing what you can to stop U18's getting access to 18+ material, got to commend you for that:thumbup:
There's still a lot of people out there in this world put things on websites that are adult rated & under 18's shouldn't be able to see them but they don't set filters:cantlook:

Flickr allows you to moderate your own photo's, if you have for example topless photos of a girl you want people 18+ to be able to see you can mark the content as restricted,
if it's restricted you need to signn up for Flickr to access & view it, and you use your yahoo account to sign in, your date of birth is on that so they know how old the users are:thumbup:

Flickr is a photo sharing website, free with 100mb per month max & 200 visible pics max

or $24.99 for a pro account with unlimited everything and original quality:thumbup:

So let me get this straight. If I wanted to see your pictures of a cage match (on a whim) I would have to first create a my space profile, then send a request to be your friend, then wait for you approve me... during this time I could have googled images. All I'm saying is if someone... model or photographer or happy person wants to have an additional website on here, it should at least work if someone is interested in seeing what else they have to offer. And yes I do have a my space account. But my link to a web site is open to the public with plenty of G and PG rated photographs. And Thanks to Gary. I might just check out Flickr as well.

There are some models and photographers already using Flickr:thumbup:

personally, i don't think myspace should be a site on jurgita.
most myspaces are private, meaning you would have to create a profile yourself,
why would any person want to waste their time doing that???

i agree with using flickr.

I use my myspace as a website, however mine is NOT set to private...
I use this because I feel it give the photographer, director, ect. to see me in a natural light. It shows my friends, the things I do, pictures without photoshop...

I think it's an alright idea, that is until the name EmmieeJay gets bigger, then maybe one day I'll save up the money for a real web site. ;)

I agree with your findings. If models or photographers have a 'genuine' myspace account for the use of modelling or photography purposes then it makes no sense to make it private. The whole idea is to get exposure! The personal myspace accounts that are all to common I don't think can be classed as websites, unless people might be interested in holiday snaps or text speach that is :)

From now on 50 activity points will turn into 1 credit, so you may earn credits as easy as never before !!!

All models and photographers are able to moderate photos! We will save a lot of time for moderators this way. Please read the short instruction on how to moderate and earn points very quickly.
Also, models and photographers can moderate part of the profiles as well! This is a fast way to earn some action points and credits!
