Hi all,

I did a portfolio shoot for Inky, a gal who wanted very badly to be a model but could not afford a good photographer to do one for her. What do you think of her and of this photo. Can this pass model agency? I'm a hobbyist photographer and have a lot to learn. The photoshoot was done on a TFCD.

Cheers

Well, why not? I like the shot. But for a model agency best take some 'polaroids' as described here:

Its okay, but it actually depend on what the agency want

Libby

pay attention to the shadows better. I am not a photographer by any means but I have take some with amateurs and it you have good lighting they turn out pretty good.

I quite like the photo actually, but really it's not agency material.

First thing is part of the models face is covered, and they always pick up on that one. In reality keeping things simple sometimes works out best.

It's a good effort though and I like the way the model looks :)

It looks like the photo's in the magazines, but if you wanted to make up a portfolio you would need to take around anywhere between 50 to 150 photo's & choose the very best, around 20 to 30 & choose the ones for portfolio use from there but keep them all just incase a potential agency wants to see more:thumbup:

I like the look of her myself, but that's my personal opinion & only reflects my individual opinion, next person's may differ:thumbup:

not everyone can be a model, but judging from this photo she has some chance but we dont know her stats, tell her to upload a profile here on jurgita.

Your pictures are nice, now depend by the agency who want you. Good:thumbup: luck
:lips::saint::lips:

Whatever you do don't contact ChiTown!:cantlook:
their website if full of pictures from other agencies:doh:

Actually, not a bad shot, given the setting you were working in. The others have given you good advice and we need to see more shots of the model. I did a quick and dirty crop and burn to show you what can be done with distracting backgrounds. Better to use camera position and lighting, but it can be done better than my example in Photoshop.
If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try!

OK!BVBA, Thanks for the link. Very good stuff.

Libby, maybe some more experience people here can share with us what an agency will look for. I don't have an idea, really.

Trevor, sure will. Thanks for the suggestion.

Mike, thanks for the frank opinion and good note about the covered face. Inky is from Indonesia and in a country with thousands of model wannabe, somehow simplicity can't cut it thus I did a little more than the norm.

Gary, I'm learning more about composite card and stuff now. Will let Inky know about your note here. ChiTown? Dunno anything about it.

Kim, sure will tell her to do it.

Elena, errr...I don't need an agency. Inky needs an agency.

Charles, that's great effort. Thanks for spending time (even though quick and dirty crop and burn) to show how the pix can look better. Some fellow hobbyists was also commenting about the distracting background. I'll re-edit the pix using your idea. BTW, just to let you know I am one of those hobbyist photographer who love to use natural light (ie no flash).

Cheers all

Another way you can get a bit more light would be dimmable halogen spotlights, point them to the ceiling & it creates a diffused glare free light:thumbup:
Deflecting the light of the ceiling also helps prevent red eye with the camera:thumbup:

Me, too. Natural light if at all possible. But light control doesn't just refer to artificial light. You can manage natural light with shades, reflectors, etc.

Good idea. Will consider doing this when I can't get enough natural light.

Yupe, I'm all for shades and reflectors and stuff. :)

Hmmm...... guess the pic is ok

:)

Do you have others in the series with a different pose and expression? ;)

Hi Cheri, thanks :)

Hi Orsiris, Sure have but I have yet time to do some processing. Will post them when I got them done.

To me, agencies want to see who you really are. She should take more close ups. She has a great chance because she is beautiful.

Good luck

Libby

Here's a close-up shot of Inky.
