Members! what would you consider to be a healthy breakfast?

To set things rolling I'll add :

1 bowl of cereal, 2 slice of toast, 1 boiled egg & a mug of strong black coffee;)

Weekdays breakfast boils down to a large jug of coffee and a mutivitamine, so not too healthy. On weekends I take the Misses, and my son Michael (that's his photo on my profile page), and we go to a place called Coras. They serve an awesome breakfast selection. I usually go for the 10 star omelet which is LOADED with veggies, smother with cheese and served with a large bowl of resh fruit and a side ofmutigrain toast. Oh, and LOTS of coffee. The staff happen to think that Mikey is the cat's meow so that goes over rather well.
Why do we struggle to paddle upstream while the river is taking us where we need to go?

I usually having bowl of corn flakes with skimmed milk:thumbup:

I do not eat breakfast. It never sat well with my stomach.

So, my answer would be that there is no such thing as a healthy breakfast for me. :dunno:

Start the day right- dont skip breakfast

If we skip breakfast, we are likely to become tired when our brains and bodies run low on fuel. By mid-morning, a lot of us grab a cup of coffee or wolf down a sugary candy bar to wake up again. This might work for a few minutes, but by lunch time we are hungry, crabby, and perhaps our mood might make us a little more prone to making unhealthy choices at lunch. Eating a good breakfast sets the tone for the rest of the day.

Skipping breakfast is a common strategy for losing weight, but not a smart one. Many people believe that they will lose weight if they skip meals, but that just isn't true; the body expects to be refueled a few times a day, starting with a healthy breakfast. Eating breakfast is good for weight loss. In fact, people who eat breakfast are more likely to maintain a healthy weight.

Whether you work at home, on the farm, at the office, at school, or on the road, it is not a good idea to skip breakfast.
:D

A healthy breakfast should contain some protein and some fiber. Protein can come from low fat meats, eggs, beans, or soy. Fiber can be found in whole grains, vegetables and fruits. A good example of a healthy breakfast might be something simple like a hard boiled egg, an orange, and a bowl of whole grain cereal with low fat milk. Stay away from the sugary cereals, syrups, pastries, and white breads because they are digested quickly and will leave you hungry and tired in a couple of hours. Protein and fiber satisfy your hunger and will keep you feeling full until lunch time.

If you don't like to eat breakfast, or believe you don't feel good when you eat breakfast, you can split your breakfast up into two smaller meals. Eat a hard boiled egg at home, and an hour or two later, take a break from work and snack on an apple and a handful of healthy nuts like pecans or walnuts.
Breakfast Every Morning

Tomorrow morning, remember that eating a healthy breakfast is the best way to start off your day, and be good to yourself by eating a healthy breakfast. Notice how much better you feel through the morning and the rest of the day when you don't skip breakfast

;)
:D

very informative  fiber! way to go! ;)

I try the bran flakes when in first week I come to stay in britain for to study, I had very bad stomach upsets at both ends!
I do not wanting to eat very much as I do not wanting to get fat!!

I also do not eat lunch most days, so what difference is breakfast going to make? I have no set dinner time and eat just that one meal a day. It is not a weight loss plan, it is just how I have lived for better than thirty years. (I'm 44 now.) I average a 20 hour day and lead a very active lifestyle. I can pound the laws books, hike to a natural shoot location with heavy equipment, SCUBA dive, play baseball, chop the rain forest bush that takes over the yard almost daily, and do a myriad of other things.

People's metabolisms are just different. The 'not-eating' trait runs in my family big time.

And no, I do not snack.

Eating within a few hours after I wake up gives me a day long stomach ache, preventing me from eating the rest of the day. How healthy can daily stomach aches be? :dunno:

I hate eggs and milk. I would have to be on the verge of dying of starvation to even think about touching those two very, very gross foods.

So, now, when I split the breakfast in two, as you suggest, how will I get the second half down with my day long belly ache which likely will prevent me from doing my work? :dunno:

If having food in my belly within a few hours of waking hurts, how will half the food stop my stomach from hurting? It is still food in my stomach and my belly does not care how much food. Call it similar to being somewhat pregnant. Either a baby is in there or it is not.

Lastly, how dare you suggest I get cranky and angry??!!!:angry::angry::angry:

I eat about 4 egg whites and one full egg. I also have about 8 oz. of palmeganite/blueberry juice. For carbs I eat raw oats mixed with apple cinnimon applesauce. Then I take liquid minerals. Unless I am working out first thing. Then I just eat the oats and applesauce.

Maybe try the raw oats mixed with flavored apple sauce. For protein try a quality whey drink. Don't buy the cheap 10 dollar for 5 lbs. You will just have bad gas. Stay away from soy. It's not good for men. You will be suprised how well the oats taste when mixed with applesauce. Once you cook oats they basically become a simple sugar. There goes you blood sugar and energy level will follow.

For me i'll rather take cereal. Right after that two glasses of water or a glass of juice.

You can also complement it with egg white and vegetables.
