I am 31 years old and trying to get signd with an agenciy once again. I used to be signed with OTM (Alpha Model Group), but I only did promotional work, due to lack of portfolio. I know I am 31, but I look much younger. How strict are the guidelines for age? If I look youger than some of the teenagers out there, why should it be a problem? I am 5'10, 130 lbs., 36-26-36. What agencies out there would consider me?

Judging by your stats you shouldn't have any problems getting work, so I see no reason why agencies should knock you back:thumbup:
Some will because of your age though, they can be funny that way!

Another thing the agencies may ask is your relationship status, sounds a bit personal but some do for some reason or other! that covers awhole list of things:doh:

As long as you're not planning to get pregnant you should have no bother getting signed though, why do I say this? well... agents won't want to be signing up a model that's going to be unavailable for a while, sounds like discrimination but some agents will use that as an excuse to close doors on you:doh:

If your asking then your probably already know the answer. (You can) Email your photos to the agency in Sacramento-- Castings --and see what they say. They cater to older models in our area. Or, there is North Beach and Blackwell Files in SF..

NEVER EVER GIVE YOUR REAL AGE. GIVE YOUR AGE RANGE ONLY. DON'T LIE ON YOUR W-9 THOUGH. THEY WILL ALL ASK YOUR AGE. AFTRA AND SAG RULES SAY THAT THEY CAN'T. IF THEY ASK FOR A SPECIFIC AGE AND DON'T BACK OFF, TELL THEM YOU ARE THE AGE THEY ARE LOOKING FOR.

not to rain on your parade or complements ther but do you not think seeing as you 31 and have only done promotional work that could be a sign that no u dont have a chance? if its taken you this long and u have to actually ask if you have what it takes its 2 late...do it for fun..

I agree with Gillian - where have you been - I'm guessing that you just started or are just getting back in - you have a nice body - you have nice features - you may be getting past the age of runway type modeling - but some agencies are changing that - go out and get a dynamic portfolio - so real hard hitting jaw dropping pixs and shop yourself till you drop.

It's how you look, what the potential client are looking for & being in the right place at the right time, or finding an agent that will get you the work:thumbup:

Gillian... it doesn't help someone's confidence when someone else is putting them down because of their age:doh:

Age is not a requirement for being a model; however it may depend on the type of modeling you are interested in doing.

yes i know..i didnt put her down about her age..shes not old and she does look younger than she is...its just if its taken this long to get where she is thats not the best sign..all the best tho :D

Well, if you are lacking current portfolio work, you have a membership here to lookup photographers in your area, right through this site. Message them from here and see if you can work out a TFCD from one or two, to sample their styles of work. It will also help to network thru them for other paid work as well.

I guess what we're all trying to say is - you have a look - this site provides the tools - you need to take the reins and create your own future - a semi or pro career is had work and a lot of selling yourself - best of luck - use your free daily emails and make a go for it.
