Here is tip #3. Some general Photoshop knowledge is assumed. This works for the CS3 version. It may or may not work for earlier versions.

KEEPING LAYERS WHEN FLATTENING/MERGING:
Don't you hate it when you get far enough along on a project and need to flatten/merge some/most/all of your layers before you can continue because you need to apply a filter to the result of all those layers and blends and fx? Instead of making a copy of all the layers and flattening/merging them into a new layer. Use Smart Objects instead.
Select all the layers you would otherwise have flattened/merged. Select "Smart Objects: Convert to Smart Objects" under the Layers menu. You now have one neat flatten layer that can be revised like it was layered by double clicking on the layer icon.

I have to say this sounds like a tip you picked up from an ad

I didn't pick it up from an ad. My co-worker pointed it out to me when he saw me feverishly duplicating layers. If it did appear in an ad, then it could very well be where it originated.

Still good to have tips and tricks in digestable portions......keep it up....
:) :D Avikal :D :)

These do belong in the photo section. I'm not admin and I can't move them.

Those complaining that you are spamming are off-base. Especially when you have nothing to gain other than points, which--if we were to start pointing fingers--would swing in the direction of certain other members who pose spurious questions as thread starters or who eventually work their way through every thread, living or dead, on the board making replies to build points.
If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try!

Thanks! I am too lazy to read the huge PS manual, so nexxt time I need that tip I'll try to remember that!

Maybe if admin take a look at these 3 topics they could move them to the right place:dunno:

I have that problem all the time. I figured there was away around it. I am horrible at photoshop. I wish I new more about it. I try to manage my web site by the photos just don't look that great.
