heels makes one's gait and behavior more graceful, heels makes us more elegant, but what about our health? i've read an interview with some 40 or so years old model and she said she had big problems with her knees and back, because she used to wear heels all the time. isn't that scary? :cantlook:

Yes it is. Heels definately a must. I have also read that many former models have arthritis in their ankles.

Larry

yeah, but a lot of people have arthritis, not models only or women only. i mean old people.

Arthritis can get you at any age. The stress off the foot from the jaunty angle causes cartlidge to break down and cause severe foot and ankle pain. Just reporting what I have read.

:)

I usually love to wear high heels in summer because I can take with myself a big summer bag and put their another little couple of my lovely, comfortable another shoes and change it wherever I want, even at cafe or at taxi, for example.

In winter I never wear high heels outside.

If there is no such opportunity to take another couple of shoes, I don't wear high heels as well if only it is not an Oscar :D

It's a gem and a curse!

I think it's a curse. I may not be a woman, but I have in jest put on high heels before, and they greatly hurt my feet in a just a few minutes.

i AGREE WITH BILLY - GEM AND A CURSE - HAVE TO TAKE THE GOOD IN WITH THE BAD;)

Gee, I don't look 40-something, but I don't know after reading this if I should wear my
gem of heels made by GUESS? Guess I should reconsider...
Like that's gonna happen, NOT!
...I like comfort, too...BUT I LOVE SEXY Shoes:lips::cool::lips:
Any thoughts on that one=---? Bodacious BIG BOYS???

Whether it be :lips::lips: OR :muscle::muscle:. . ."TRUE BLUE" IS The GENE that fits ALL;)

I was talking to a personal trainer about this and she said that there a specific exersizes to reverse any damage done by frequently wearing high heels. If you have time to spend about 30minutes doing what I'm about to say, It can really help you in the future to prevent abnormal muscle growth and other related problems. Try to concentrate on placing the ball of your feet on a vertical support (wall or step) and put your heel close as possible to that support as well while standing and stretch your calves. Also walk on steps barefoot or flat shoes while only using the front portion of your foot and it does like a reverse heel effect so in the long run you are equally building muscle tone in your lower legs. (Try to remember to keep a good posture thru these excersizes.)

Thanks, Patulla to you and your trainer :)

thanks Patulla for sharing the tips! i just wonder what's "abnormal muscle growth"? i've heard Cameron Diaz even wears heels at home to keep her legs muscle strong and nice.. are we talking about the same effect?

Heels empower feminity though.

i think it's more fetish than a real women thing:dunno:

I stand with Larry !!!!!!!!!!!!

High-heels were invented to draw attention to the back-side.

I read an article, that heels aere sometimes good for your health. But there are different heels. But I think, every woman should have a pair of fantastic shoes on very high heels to wair it on special occasions.

There's only one problem with having one pair of very high heels for special occasions... you never get to practice walking in them, so when you wear them you look like you're walking on stilts - and not very good at it  Though I do agree that you should have that pair of gorgeous heels for special occasions, it musn't be the only pair.

Wedges I think are feet-savers. If i go dancing in my heeled boots, I'll have to sit down within an hour, but I can dance all night in my wedged boots and I'll be fine :)

I find it hard to believe that doing any form of exercise will prevent arthritis, which is basically the bone wearing away at the joints. I really do believe heels are a curse no matter how good they look - compared to walking barefoot, do they feel good? Nope.

Of course, I'm biased, I have fallen arches so wearing heels for a long time is a nightmare for my feet and legs... and if I wear them often I'll end up with very horrible legs and feet by the time I'm 35 :cantlook:

I've gotta have my heels! I don't care if I get arthitis when I get older or not! lol

u dont have to put on the heels all the time. maybe on special occassions.
