Topless In The Street, O.K. For Men But Not Women?

This is something that seems that no matter what it seems that the governments everywhere will not budge on...

Men can strip down to the waist in the street, and that's considered o.k.:thumbup:
But why should women not be allowed to do the same if they want to without getting arrested?:dunno:

Yes the amusment of the girls going topless in the summer heat would attract some over the top attention initially but one everyone was used to it & considered it the norm
nobody would bother to take much notice:dunno:

I go onto topless beaches abroad & you don't see me making any big deal about topless women so why such a big deal if the girls all stripped down to the waist in the streets of London, Edinburgh. Miami, Toronto, Sydney & Moscow?:dunno:

Or should a ban on men going topless be brought into force with a rather large fine for being indecently dressed in public?:dunno:

Well you are not correct on that point as far as Canada is concerned.:doh: In 1996, the Ontario court of appeals ruled that women going topless did not imply indecent or sexual behaviour as defined by the Canadian criminal code (R. v. Jacobs, 1996). :thumbup:Similar rulings were made in Saskatchewan in 1998 and in British Columbia in 2000. There are some governments that are progressive. Now having said that there is still the "Social" stigma of toplessness in public :cantlook: (say on a downtown street as opposed to a beach) but that is more about social conditioning . :embarassed: Now in the middle of winter, I am sure that even the mose tried and true supporter will be covering up, but there is a fair amount of exposed flesh in the summer.

I had a girlfriend that used to parade around the house & garden in the all together in the summer & I never considered it sexual, the neighbours moaned the face off me about her though;)

personally, i wouldn't want to strip down completely topless in a place like England. It doesn't even get hot enough in the summer. Sure, then this leads to "well is a bikini better than a bra?" debate.

It comes down to this: men who don't care (or say they don't) or the men who will get an erection and think I'm easy. I know both of those men are everywhere, so for my sake I won't do it.

Couple of years ago while at a protest march in NYC I saw a topless girl walking down 5th Ave. I thought it was funny, fired off 4 or 5 quick frames and thought "Only in New York"

Miko... I don't go for fat women, though they can't be excluded or banned from doing it just because they've got a few extra pounds around the waist:thumbup:

There ate some women over here campaigning for the right to take off their bra in the streets unless men are banned from removing their shirts:endecided:

I don't take my shirt off unless I've got block on, I had bad sunburn on my back once & it was agony:doh:

Here in britain, the top temp's in 2006 peaked between 27c & 34c between the north of england & south central scotland, while portugal only had an average of 24c during the weeks of june/july where we had the heat:thumbup:

I let my sisters & a girl I was seeing at the time bathe naked in my back garden, they were where nobody could see them anyway & I didn't object or think anything of it, even with them coming in & out the house for thinngs, I don't see the problem with it:thumbup:

I see the point of objection if 2 people started having sex in the street:doh:
Now that I would object to:thumbup:

People would need to find it acceptable, and kids would have to be brought up around nudity so problems with minors didn't occur:thumbup:

Terence is right about Ontario's laws and the role of social mores. I can think of only one case in which I saw a woman topless since that ruling and that was at a beach.
As for the winter months, he's "moosetly" right there as well since even the moose and the beavers going looking for a sweater in February.

My town has no nudity laws. It is common for naked people to be in "Kid's Park". Yip, true.

The swim holes are the same. Nudies every where up at lake and swimming holes.

Well, then again it is Chico. Voted #1 Party school for many years..

I may be wrong but I think most women would rather have their ta tas held in place. I think it would be fine sunbathing or sitting around but washing the car or mowing the lawn it may be uncomfortable.

But my point exactly is if the law says it's o.k. for a man to strip to the waist then why not legal for a woman, or why not ban men from stripping to the waist in the street too?:dunno:

When we went to Tahiti, well........ practically every one walked around half naked. Even whole families with kids etc.. At first it was weird but then it turned into "normal" some how. It is just part of the culture.
Chico, on the other hand, is a college party town. Maybe not in the top 5 anymore, but the craziness goes on daily. I guess that the college crowd are our biggest nudies..
Drinking, Parties, Chico State and practically a whole town in their 20's. No wonder my brother loves it here!

these things can be seen in romania or countries like moldova but if these rules will be applied in USA or UK it would create problems for the asian or the foriegners.............coz we should keep in mind the religious factor.

I wouldnt get away with it in moldova! I know a girl called Anastasiya, not very well but she comes from chisinau, she stays with a friend of one of my friends brother, the word from a moldovan citizen is if i were to whip my bra off in the street i get arrested!

who told you this bull about romania & moldova?
I might get away with topless bathing on a beach in romania in a tolerance zone but moldova, no way!! get arrested in moldova for indecent exposure!

Most places will allow topless, they however discourage it and have the right to refuse service. I have yet to have anyone arrested, detained and questioned, but not arrested. Also if you get a permit....
