first photoshoot yesterday for my portfolio!! I think it went well, but thinking
back on it now, i'm angry with myself for not remembering certain poses that i
wanted to try. I'd been preparing for months, looking at magazines and different
photos of models, to get ideas for poses. Oh well i guess that's how you learn.
Anyway as soon as i get the photos i'll put some up, but in the meantime i was
wondering if anyone else would like to share their first photoshoot
experience?

I don't have a first photo op experience to relate you, I am a photographer, and
most lately, my own model for some of the micro stock agencies I contribute. You
can see 3 of those self portraits in my portfolio here, if you have time to
check me out.
Usually, I am the one behind the camera , not in front of it, so maybe I can
give you some ideas for your future shoots.
Looking at your presentation here, you have a very nice form and personality. If
you noticed, I mentioned personality, and not the usual description such as
sexy, pretty, hot,etc..
We photographers are not looking for sexy, pretty, hot,etc... as there are tons
of sexy, pretty, hot, etc.. all over the web. To be a successful model is to be
a successful actress.
And to be a successful "actress" is to PROJECT YOUR PERSONA.
What I mean by that? You can study and copy all the fashion magazines you want,
until the cows come home ... but that will not change much, if you forget the
most important secret to the best models and actresses.
What has someone, like say Jennifer Connelly, got? She is radiant in front of
the camera on stage or off stage. Even when the papparrazi shoot her walking in
the street.
This is all about successful modeling. She project herself .
So Joanna, I better end here, it's getting too long... I hope it makes sense
what I am trying to explain. Look at yourself, and know you have certain
features that are outstanding. Exploit those features, whether it's your eyes,
smile, crinkle on your lips, etc. These are something other models may not have,
or are not conscious about their "uniqueness". Bring those features out, and you
will spend less time trying to find "ideas to pose". It becomes natural, and
that will let us photographers call out to you and say,
"hey awesome, Joanna!" . That is what photographers like myself are looking
for.
Be safe ! Choose your photographers well. Ask for references.
Good luck and thanks for letting me add this comment. Hope it helps.you provide the character, and i will take care of the rest to capture your persona. |
