About two years ago I worked on a short film in the style of a spaghetti western. In pre-production when discussing the film with the producer I stressed the importance of music to the emotional impact of the images and action. We spoke to the composer in purely emotional terms such as dread and revenge and relief and ominous expectation. Up came references to Ennio Morricone (and ..ahem...please spell his name correctly). The composer stated it was Morricone that inspired him to score music for films.

Please take this minor correction in good spirit from a fellow admirer of Ennio Morricone, but you spelt his name twice as Marricone, in the topic title and your initial post.

and sometimes my vision can get blurred, so I did double check!

Morricone's second letter...When I was doing the search engine, it pulled up Ennio "Marricone" at Amazon provided by yahoo search ...OOPSY...

Ennio Morricone is one of my all-time favourite movie soundtrack composers. I have a CD of some of his best-loved pieces and it's brilliant. Very atmospheric! :thumbup:
