so just wondering what people think are the best camera on the go??
Personally at the moment I'm working with a Canon Powershot S3 since I'm only
starting out but I will be upgrading soon enough and will definitely be going
with somethin with changeable lenses for a start, probably go to an olympus E500
or somethin along those lines.
But what do pople think are the best and in their experience what works and what
doesn;t?We Don't Take Risks to Escape Life!!

You are right when you say that there are so many brands out there. This makes
it all the more confusing for anyone looking to buy. Your best bet is to go a
camera shop and have a try of a few different models/brands. I recommend
Bermingham Cameras on Burgh Quay. I have been going there for years.
As for brands some people prefer Canon, others Nikon. Either of the two brands
would be a good choice. As for pixel count anything around the 10mp mark will be
good enough for most users. Personally I am a Nikon user and I have been for
many years, thats just my preference. At the end of the day whatever brand you
go for is up to you. The important thing is to feel comfortable with the camera
and that it does what you want it to do.
Best of luck with it.

lens (high quality images), high quality images produced by sensors, best
service support by supplier and best availability. My favorite lenses are
nikkors and pentax lenses. |

be either Canon or Olympus. I just thought I'd start this thread up to see what
people are using and what they consider. Figured it could also be good for
aspiring photographers to get an idea what to look out for in a good cameraWe Don't Take Risks to Escape Life!!

the categories that i have said, but still i love the kick of Nikkor and Asahi
lenses. When you buy cheap Canon lenses images are also really cheap but not
with Nikkors and Asahis. I considered Canon for its value, durability, lesser
noise, service support and availability here in the Philippines, but the lens
again i consider nikkors and asahis although Canons L series lenses are very
good. |

2. how versatile is the camera (interchangible lenses).
After that it is a matter of shooting and learning as you shoot. If you can
afford it a cheap DSLR is better than a really good point and shoot simply
because it expands your future capabilities if you need a longer or wider lens.If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!

Nikon lenses do not fit my canon. I think Nikon uses superior glass.

Nikon glass on a Canon EOS camera, you merely lose all electronic connections
and have to focus manually, set f-stop on lens and set camera on Tv for shutter
control--back to good old days.
In fact you can get interchangible adapters for all sorts of glass, including
Zeiss, Contax, Leica R, etc. One place is, I think, called CameraVillage on the
net, but for sure if you do a search for Voigtlander lenses, you find the site
that sells the best adapters. If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!

One of mine is an 8.2 megapixel and it does fine. In fact, I've taken shots with
older cameras that were only 4 MP in size that I was able to print to 19"x13"
without detectable digital artifacts. Included here is a web-sized sample of
what the Canon 1D can do at 4 MP.If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!

you look close you can see a jagged edge to the neckline of one of the dresses,
so all megapixels aren't equal. If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
