Take a look at other profiles to get an idea on types of shots.
Post the pics.
You will get good feed back here.

don not think a photographer will make any money by introducing a model to an
agency. They can sell photos of their models, they can get contract for
photoshoot later.. benefited from getting known by the agency.. but not from
introducing a model.. unless it's a commission as scout. Not sure if i'm
replying to a correct issue here thou.. he he. |

will require some dedication. Shooting a prospective model and trying to market
her will give you some experience. Quite a few modeling schools and small
agencies come to terms with a photographer or studio to do the model cards and
basic starter portfolio, possibly do some scouting.
If you want the big time, then the traditional method has been to apprentice to
an established shooter, haul his or her gear, do set-ups, get coffee, fill in
where needed until you've made enough contacts to be able to use the network to
get a shoot for yourself. Then it depends on whether or not the gods are smiling
that day.
Good luckIf I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try! |

best lighting .. maybe even try some outdoor shots. Showing versatility of the
types of photos you can take is good. Also she needs to have a variety of
different styles and looks to have a good portfolio. I don't know much about
photographing models.. however i am trying to get into modeling myself |

if she is not interested in glamour or art nude whatsoever she wont need any
nude shot on her port, same way great shots in high fashion are useless if she
is trying to break into the adult industry, also be careful , a model portfolio
is about how versatile is a model not how versatile ls a photographer, a great
shot of her against the sun where you barely see her profile wont help her at
all
good luck |

own.
Maybe that is not the thought that you had in your head, but it is what the
words you wrote say.
You want to use the model to show that you can take fantastic images, put those
images out there and if anyone likes the images, buy them, and if anyone likes
the model, hire her and let you take a percentage for introducing her.
Hey...I am not knocking you down. That is what we do! And more
power to you! That is the first step in knowing how it works. They need us, we
need them. There is nothing wrong with a photographer being an agent. Just know
your time and resources and know whether or not you can fairly represent the
model, be fair to the model, and have the moral fortitude and integrity
to be honest with the model about your plans and abilities.
Phil Smith: can anyone give advise on
the type of shots that make a good portfolio.
Crisp, clear shots that let us know the model. You want the shot to attract
attention, but you do not want the beauty of the shot to overshadow the
attractiveness of the model. You need to integrate your artistic style into the
shot while showing an individual that the the target audience simply cannot
refuse. In that manner you get the model noticed and you get your expertise as a
photographer noticed.
If you are going to represent a model, do not let your own
desire for photographic fame compete with your ability to promote the model!
The one mandatory image type requirement for any portfolio is what this site
calls POLAROIDS. These show the model's body. If
a model is queasy about posing for Polaroids, I guarantee the big shots will not
be knocking on your door to hire that model.
For the second image type, your attention grabbing shots, you use your judgment
and knowledge of the model to produce those portfolio images. Do not shoot
outside of the model's look, type and range of abilities. Those images will look
forced, fake and lack life and appeal. They will show a weak model and an even
weaker photographer.
The third type of images for the model's portfolio are the resume shots. The
resume consists only of prints of the model's published works.
Phil Smith:
do photographer's make any money from the agency's ?
You cannot sell a model to an agency, or anyone else for that matter, unless you
are the model's manager. You also have to have the hot stuff, the real deal, for
an agency to make you a contract buy out offer.
However, there is such a concept among agencies call Mother Agencies and
Daughter Agencies. It is a concept whereby agencies pool their marketing
resources and in turn share their pool of models with each other. For example,
you have a model signed and Ford has a client that could use that model. You, as
the mother agency will have already worked out deals with other agencies who are
now acting as your daughter. (Or work it out wen the offer comes in from an
agency not already networked with you.) In other instances you may need one of
their models and then you will be the daughter agency. Anyhow, what you have
worked out with the daughter agencies ahead of time is what your percentage of
any job fee will be. Both agencies will get a percentage of the job fee. You and
the daughter work out the percentage. Your contract with your model will have
already specified what percentage of any money made is paid out as commission.
The deal you broker with a daughter agency is confidential between you and that
agency and frankly is no business of the model. The model always gets the agreed
upon percentage, perhaps minus reasonable expenses. So, do not undervalue the
commission percentage you sign the model for. You will find yourself bankrupt
very quickly on the trickle down.
Will an agency buy your images of the model from you or pay you to shoot the
model for them? Oh, heck no! Why would the agency pay you?
Agencies already have in-house photographic ability to suit their needs. They
have the receptionist who can hold a point and shoot and say "Turn left, turn
right. Be happy. Be sad. Be angry. Be loving.", and they have their regular tog
who does all their test shoots for them. A bona fide agency is already set with
all their photographic needs and, if not, can easily reach out to find a
photographer on trade.
Do you know why the brand name Polaroid has become so generic in describing the
snap shot poses? It is because instant Polaroid pictures were what were snapped
when a likely model came in for an initial interview. That was all that was
needed. Clip the Polaroids to the model's file, pass it around the office and if
the response is good enough, the model gets a call back for a test shoot. That
is the way it was and that is the way it remains even though the cameras have
changed.
So, no, an agency will not pay you for images of, or to test shoot, a model you
represent. Do not try to get paid that way. It will show you as a stingy
agent/manager, unwilling to share models in a Mother/Daughter relationship, and
the agency will take their trade to someone else. Mother/Daughtering is how
agencies network. Contract buy-outs are special circumstances. Do not overturn
that applecart. Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should |

it.
The only ways I can see you making money From the agency is if the teen model
was your daughter. If you set her up with an agency and she is not over the age
of 18 then you may be able to set up a contract paying you a certain amount or
percentage of her pay to you.
If you shoot good enough shot of her the agency might offer you a job as well
however I would not count on it. Still it is possible.
Other than that the only way you would be able to make any money is to either
have her or her parental units pay you fees for taking her photos, expenses for
you to take the photos to a graphic designer or Photo enhancement artist.
Assuming you don't know how to enhance photos yourself at a professional level,
expenses on putting together a physical portfolio, and if you want to go this
far expenses for having someone make a web portfolio for her.
Keep in mind that you will want to make a profit however, you also want to stay
within her or her parental units budget.Dante' A V |

photographer, odds are the agency has a photographer already who can eat your
lunch, this is no disrespect to you, but the agency photographers are some
really good people. |

career out of photography can be a great career & if you like taking pictures it
can be fun too!
I am a photographer myself but don't limit myself to models or fashion
why only a member in jurgita you might ask? I have my reasons
A model's portfolio is where I started, but I have ambition & just went for all
types of work I could get!
Good place to start but when I was working with models I was working with a
local newspaper too as a journalist! |
