Start over again from square one.
No really, I mean this.Everything I've done, and all that I have yet to do, is only to forget the meaning of your name. |

How can I put this...
What you did, is taking away the natural beauty she has and created an
overwhelmingly artificial portrait.
You are working against the photo when you should be working with it.
If your going to soften an image, do the whole thing and gently at that. Then,
if there are small parts which absolutely need a touch up, take it from there
and make it fit the look of the rest of the image.
Smudging and Blurring is all fine and good, but at least pay attention to the
areas that you missed (aka a spot on her shoulder, parts of her hair, etc.)
I really could go on for ever but that is not going to help you.
You need to start small and practice like crazy.
I'm a terrible teacher, but I know what's good and whats not when it comes to
graphic art.
You are too far ahead of your current ability. Keep doing what your doing but
don't look to sell your work, not yet.
If you use photoshop, play around with good-tutorials.com for a while to help
you understand the basics and the beauty of a subtle touch.Everything I've done, and all that I have yet to do, is only to forget the meaning of your name. |

| Date: 2007-04-09 13:34 You're taking away all the features that make the models interesting,
turning them into bland, generic images. This may be a good strategy for some
commercial purposes, but I feel it detracts from the photographer's intent. |

wrong place. People wish to show whatever they have here.. good or bad. There's
litle point in touching any of their image the way you are doing. I do think
that there are other people out there who would want their pictures turned to
drawings. You might want to look for them.. unless, you actually is targeting a
different segment. People in creative departments.. |

Maybe you're mistaken. Retouching a photo means you 'repair' it, and first off,
this picture has nothing broken about it.
At worst, retouching would entail, some smoothing for noise reduction (for
grain), and tweaking the levels to keep a nice crisp contrast for the
picture.
What you have managed to do is take a lovely life-like picture, and turn it into
a mockery of a human-being. I mean, yes the coloring isn't that bad, but why not
take existing light levels and just use adjustment layers to add color and
change as you see fit.
Just sticking my nose in there

model Yana before retouching
for a start a before retouching pic would be the original not something you've
already done work on which you quite obviously have to do that considering its
condition....and secondly you are NOT retouching that picture...it has been
explained on countless occassions by people what retouching is and what you is
not retouching....retouching involves removing blemishes and defects and in
general making the model look better while still being the same picture...you
take a picture and change it completely and make it totally unuseable for a
portfolio because agencies won't care what your pictures could be made to look
like they care what you look like for realWe Don't Take Risks to Escape Life!!
